Lacey's emerald orbs widened in panic as she stood up, backing away from Bryce. My wolf growled yet again. Why would she be so scared to see her brother? Even though I was still confused, I had to protect Lacey just incase. I was about to grab her tiny and and comfort her, trying to explain that Bryce meant no harm, and that she was safe. However, before I could do just that, Lacey bolted upstairs as soon as her eyes filled with tears.

My wolf whimpered, hating seeing our mate sad. I quickly stood up, knocking down the chair by instinct, following Lacey up the long staircase quickly so that I could comfort her, and ask why she was so scared.

I soon noticed Bryce following behind me nervously. I turned around, a loud growl emitting from my chest. I pushed him back with all of my strength, making him stumble. He had already made my beautiful mate sad enough, I didn't need him f*cking anything else up.

He seemed to get my message when he lifted his hands in surrender. I gnomes him, and continued to walk up stairs. Lacey's sweet scent became stronger, and I soon heard quiet sobs coming from the door that lead to our bathroom that she was currently in.

As soon as I heard her start crying even more, anger blurred my vision. For whatever reason Bryce made her so upset, he would for sure pay for it.

"Lacey? Baby, please let me in. I'm here princess, please don't cry." I said, leaning on the wooden door.

"Please, we can talk about it. No ones going to hurt you, I promise baby." I pleaded once again. Her sobs became quieter as I heard her search through the bathroom. What could she be doing? I begged for her to let me in, before smelling a different scent mixed with Lacey's normal sweet one.

It smelled metallic. Almost like... Blood.

Red dotted my vision as I busted down the door, hearing her whimper from the sudden harshness. And there, I came into sight with what I never thought I'd see, something I'd never want to see.

My little mate sitting down, tears cascading down her beautiful face while attempted to hide her bloody wrists and thighs, while pools of blood formed around her.

I rushed over to her side, my heart beat picking up more and more when I saw her eyes closing. The pack doctor was already on their way, while I desperately tried to stop the bleeding. I was useless. Completely, utterly useless.

Lacey was soon being rushed into the pack hospital, while I held her cold, lifeless hand. I had blinked back tears many times in the last hour. I had to be strong for her, I had to.

It was now two days later, I was now currently sitting in an all-white hospital room, still holding Lacey's hand. Still waiting for her to wake up. I had dark bags around my eyes from not sleeping. She needed me, and I needed her.

Occasionally, members of the pack would come in, leaving their respects towards my little mate who was currently fighting for her life.

The pack doctor, Dr. Smith walked in. She started to examine Lacey's ripped up thighs and wrists, that we're currently being healed by stitches.

"Alpha Black, I'm letting you know that I'm not sure about how'll she'll heal. We've done everything we can, but her body couldn't handle it, because of her small size and weight. The blood loss was too much." She quickly rushed out.

"What are you trying to say?" I yelled, my fist flying towards the wall. I couldn't lose Lacey. I couldn't do it. There is no reason to live without her.

"I'm not s-sure how much time she'll have left, Alpha." Dr. Smith said, while more nurses came in to inspect my little mates health. After that I stayed silent, my hands in buried in my head while I let few tears escape from my eyes. My wolf was silent too, anxious and depressed preparing for what could come. I tear drop escaped from my eye, landing on Lacey's pale cheek. I then stood up, running a hand through my tousled hair.
