Don't defend a Slytherin

"Rose wait up!" Rose Armani was walking through the shadowed corridors as night was settling in over the castle. It was only their first day of her new year at Hogwarts, and Draco was already bothering her about snogging.

Of course any girl would love to have sly, handsome Draco give them attention, but Rose thought of it otherwise. She did love it when Draco paid attention to her, but it was different when he was paying attention to the things he would do with her.

Rose turned around and saw Draco jogging lightly to catch up with her fast pace. It was already 7 o'clock and she still had a potions essay due tomorrow. She knew Draco would hold her up for possibly an hour with his arrogant talk and his conceited smirks. Let's not forget the snogging.

"Where were you after dinner?" He asked her with a look that said he wanted an immediate answer.

"You know I don't always have to be at your hip." She replied with little hesitation.

"Don't have to get snappy, I just asked where you were. You usually walk back to the common room with me." He gave her one of his rude smirks that constantly reminded her that he would always be that way. Simply a Malfoy.

"I wasn't getting snappy Draco, it's just I have a potions assignment due tomorrow and I'd like to have it done as soon as possible." She ran her fingers through her long, dark, curly hair and avoided his eyes. They were practically silver in the dim light of the halls and too piercing to look at directly.

"You don't have potions until after our lunch break, so you have time to do the rest of it then anyways." The way he would let things roll off his shoulder so nonchalantly bothered, yet intrigued her at the same time. Draco Malfoy truly would always be a Slytherin. No other house could possibly fit such a disturbingly ambitious boy.

"I guess I could." Rose thought about it and figured he was right. She didn't feel like arguing with him really,"Let's go back to the common room now, I'll help you with you're history of magic paper." she offered.

"Eh... maybe later. But first..." he didn't finish his sentence, but instead he leaned forward and pressed his lips onto hers. She was slightly caught off guard, but wasn't surprised because it was usual of him to kiss her when tension was between them.

He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him. No one was in the corridor, so being caught was not an issue. Rose liked the way Draco would hold her waist close to him and kiss her without hesitation, but she didn't like how he always found a way to be upset with her or act like nothing he said was wrong.

She let her hands roam up to his stiff hair which was now becoming disheveled from the snogging going on. They both pulled back for air and she looked into his piercing eyes. She never could read those silver eyes of his. Too many emotions swimming in the silvery pools. Draco wasn't open whatsoever with her except the fact that he liked her. And to him that was all that mattered. And it bothered her.

Being the girlfriend to an arrogant Slytherin isn't easy. Being the girlfriend to a Malfoy... Well that is a task almost too difficult.

Draco broke eye contact with her and averted his gaze back to her lips. He slowly backed her up into one of the stone walls and resumed the snogging. Rose didn't stop his lips from touching hers, but sooner or later she would have to stop their physical act of kissing from going any further. He hadn't dared try anything, but it was only a matter of time until he would grow tired of just snogging. She knew she couldn't do that. She was a pretty girl, with olive skin and dark hair and eyes. Slim and had a splay of freckles across her nose. Draco thought she was pretty, and so did many other boys, but they would never voice their admiration for the girl in fear of her possessive boyfriend.

As their lips continued to embrace one another, and their hands roaming each others hair, the sound of fast footsteps echoed in the distant corridors. They both immediately broke apart thinking it was either Peeves, or Filch. They continued their way back to the dungeons towards the common room whilst keeping a fast pace to avoid the oncoming footsteps. Draco grabbed Rose's arm and pulled her quickly along with him. She didn't like that.

"You'll never catch me Hankshaw!" Rose whipped her head around to see that the happy voice she heard was that of George Weasley.

Draco turned to see that it was only George Weasley,"It's not Filch. Just another pitiful Weasley." She hated how he said that. Or said anything hateful towards anyone. Especially the Weasley's. They had done no wrong towards Draco or his family. She never understood why he thought of himself so much higher than them.

She was just about to speak up, but was interrupted by another voice, but this time it was a girl's,"You bet your sorry arse I will! Don't think you and Fred can fool Ginny and I again without getting away with it!" Rose recognized the girl running after George as the one in the train yesterday who had saw the dispute between her and Draco. They had classes together before, but never did they communicate. She did know that the girl was a Gryffindor and Draco hated Gryfindors.

Both George and the girl carried their wands in one hand and an Ink container in the other. The girl sped up and was soon behind George. He was laughing and so was she. Rose couldn't help but smile at the scene in front of her because it was far better than anything a Slytherin would do. George took a glance back to see how far his opponent was behind him and was surprised when she tackled him to the ground. The girl was laughing manically and George was struggling to break loose from her grip. She pinned his shoulders down with her knees and tipped over the ink container and hovered it above his face, moving it around. Must've been transparent ink, because the usual dark liquid was not pouring out.

"C'mon Rose, let's leave these idiots to themselves." Draco seemed not one bit amused, but more irritated than anything. He grabbed her arm again, but in a tighter grip.

She yanked her arm away from his pale fingers,"I know where the common room is, I don't need you helping me to get there." She gave him one of her cold glares.

"Bloody hell Rose, what's your problem?" She couldn't believe he was asking what her problem was.

"My problem? One moment you're snogging me, and the next you're telling me what to do!" She folded her arms across her chest.

George finally broke free and was now pinning the girl to the ground, when he looked up and saw the arguing couple,"Oh! Look Dani! We have an audience."

Rose turned toward the voice of interruption and forgot that they were still wrestling on the ground as they argued. Draco snagged her arm again to regain her attention,"You're my girlfriend. Of course we are going to snog!"

"Are you going to let that prat treat you like that?" Draco turned his head towards George who made the snide remark.

"Shut the hell up Weasley! This isn't your business!" Draco spat.

"Well, you are yelling at each other right in front of us." Dani began struggling underneath George wanting to get a look at what was happening.

"Aren't you busy with... Whatever it is you idiots are doing?" Draco had a cocky expression on his face.

"Actually, we were just enjoying ourselves with a game of invisible ink wars, but then I saw you two fighting like cats and dogs." George lifted himself off of Dani and stood still at a distance away from Rose and Draco.

Dani stood up as well, but didn't follow behind George. Draco glared at him,"C'mon Rose. Dirt like these fools aren't worth acknowledging." He then turned his back away from the scene and made his way down the hall expecting Rose to be in his wake.

Rose didn't know what to say to that comment. She felt this bubbling sensation in her stomach of guilt. Guilt that she stood there and said nothing to defend George and the girl Dani. Guilt that she thought she really could possibly love Draco. She looked at George with an almost apologetic look on her olive complected face. He looked at her with surprise as she turned away to follow after Draco.

All she could think about was that George Weasley stood up for a Slytherin. And she liked it.
