While visiting at her grandparants in New Orleans for a week. Ginni, a 9 year old girl experiences hurricane Katrina at its worst. On the morning of August 29 2005, 6:00 a.m Ginni is awakened by strong winds of up to 125 mph. Startled, she runs to her grandparents room and finds them already awake and are shutting all the windows with black shutters and are rushing around all valuables upstairs. Violet, her grandma grabs her hand and rushes her up the stairs. Thats where she tells her what is going on, Hurricane Katrina has hit and theirs no way of getting out, they are going to have to ride out the storm.
