From afar he watched her chocolate eyes dance across the cake. Snaking past the bundled up customers, his finger did two taps on her knit sweater.

Her clunky boots squeaked to turn.

He said, "I can buy that for you."

She fired a dirty look. "What, so I can absorb it?"

He mentally wished he was the dessert hiding behind that glass. "N-No..." His feet shuffled. "So we can share it."

Share it?  I didn't know this was junior kindergarten.  Why don't you offer her your juice box?

His anxious heart refused to stop chasing her. "Sharing is caring!"

The angels in his head sang as she brought herself to a halt. "Unless you're a fat sponge."

"But SpongeBob is pretty cute."

"Are you saying I have square hips?"

"Square hips are hot."

And so was his ears.

And neck.

And probably his face.

She was doing a good job keeping him warm for the winter.
