There is a young girl

That has an old soul

She had a warm heart

But it quickly turned cold

She stopped believing in the good

And only recognized the bad

She sees no point in dreams

Yet she wishes for what she never had

She's ready to admit

That her house is not a home

She's forever available

She's forever alone

She's quiet

And she's scared

She's ambitious

But unprepared

She's afraid of her feelings

And she doesn't trust her heart

She wants to go somewhere in life

But she's off to a bad start

This is a girl

Who has felt a lot of hurt

She thinks even a penny

Is more than what she's worth

Her self hatred is undying

And she's been dealt too much pain

And as much as she hopes

Things never change

This girl has a big heart

But she's afraid to let you see

What her heart holds

.. That girl.. Is me.
