Chapter 33

Three days later, as we all attended his funeral, we knew everything will now change forever. Caleb was gone!
and so was Noah. Yes, Noah died. He died that very night, succumbing to his injuries. I couldn't even say my goodbyes to him since I was running around searching for Caleb.

That night I went to look for Caleb, but he was gone. Completely dissappeared!
Not only him, but his whole family including Cecile had gone away and nobody knows where. There house is all locked up and there's not even a single trace of them anywhere. Caleb fled, with the help of his father's money and power, he ran away from this town after killing my best friend!

The sky was dark and gloomy and it was raining heavily as I started heading back home, alone. My mother hasn't spoken to me since Noah's death, and neither did Nina. Nina didn't even come out of her house when I went to see her. Everybody has decided to avoid me, or so it seems..

As I walked alone in the crowd, getting wet and hiding my tears with the rain water pouring over my face, a figure suddenly appeared infront of me with an umbrella, "Bella..."

I looked up to see Mike holding the umbrella and looking at me sympathetically, but I was disappointed. Yeah! for the nth time, I had hoped against hope, that somehow Caleb would come back, somehow he would prove all of us wrong, he would be here holding me in his arms and saying that it will be alright, he would tell me how much he loves me and that he didn't do all these, somehow he would prove me wrong, because if he doesn't and if I'm right, then all these months that I had spent with him and the love we shared were all a lie. I loved a monster, a murderer!

"Are you okay?" Mike's voice didn't help my tears to stop. I just nodded in approval.

"He is gone, Bella" Mike spoke again, "You should accept it".

"Yeah, he fled" My voice was shaking as I spoke, "And I had thought, Noah was his friend."

Mike turned to look at me for a moment and then he said, "I was talking about Noah, not about Caleb"

"Oh" I said guiltily. What am I doing? My bestfriend died, I am at his funeral, and all I can think about is Caleb?! I should be ashamed of myself.

"Bella, Caleb was the one who hit him, you know that right?" Mike looked me sideways for a response.

"Mike, I know that..." I clarified as he kept on going.

"I mean, he literally fled after hitting Noah, then he was charged and locked up, but suddenly the cops won't talk about it anymore. His charges were dropped, the case closed and they all are nowhere to be found. Everyone's gone. These all proves he's guilty, that is why he ran away.."

"I know that" I said, stopping on my tracks, "Don't you think I know that? I know what Caleb has done, and how he betrayed me, so stop saying it again and again...."

"Bella I just wanted to..." Mike's voice trailed off as I looked at the person walking behind him and pass us unnoticed.

"Hey" I ran up to her in the rain, "Nina"

She didn't respond or even look back, I ran upto her and held her hand, "Nina, what the hell? Stop!"

"What?" She snapped turning around, her eyes bloodshot, probably from crying, "Why can't you just leave me alone?!"
