No, mom, I won't just
not bring up my sexuality
at the dinner table just because
you're afraid of what they'll say.No, mom, I won't sit here
and pretend to be straight
just so you can have some
god damn "peace."No, mom, I won't take off
rainbow bracelets and
queer comics from my
Christmas list just so
you don't have see it.No, mom, I won't sit here
and let people ridicule
my sexuality, I won't sit here
and let them say "it's just
a phase" and that
"all gays are confused"
just so they don't think
that you don't know how to
raise a child.Dear Mom,
I'm tired of pretending.
I want you to see me,
really see me, for who
I am instead of constantly
trying to fix something that
cannot be fixed.Dear Mom,
I am not a mistake.
I am not confused or
wanting attention.Dear Mom,
My love is genuine.
The only mistake here is
everything you've been doing
for the past year and a half
regarding me and my sexuality.I refuse to hide a part of me
that's such a huge part
of who I am.(a.l.m)
