[View Online] [Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot." Steven Wright Up in the mountains of Wales, built in to the side of Mount Snowdon, lay a building, protected better than perhaps any other building in the country, apart from Hogwarts. Only bearers of the mark could apparate in and even then, they could only apparate in to a lobby. A lobby watched over by some of the most powerful Dark wizards on the planet. In the main chamber sat the most feared dark wizard who ever lived. The room was dark and dirty, the atmosphere nervous and foreboding as a musty smell hung in the air. The walls, floor and ceiling were all stone, with a filthy rug and a high-backed chair against the back wall as if someone had made a rather half-hearted attempt to make the place inhabitable. Of course, he prefered it this way. Like a vampire, he loathed the light along with anything that denoted happiness or comfort. Why should they have comfort? They were nothing but slaves, a means to an end, and they needed to be reminded of that from time to time. A crowd of seven masked figure stood around the chair in a semi-circle and listened obediently as their master spoke. Lord Voldemort spoke commandingly, making no attempt to raise his voice. "Have you made any progress in locating the object, Bella? Lord Voldemort grows tired of waiting, surely you don't need to be reminded of the consequences of failure?" "Of course not my Lord." Bellatrix replied shakely "We have been unable to locate the object my lord. We have tracked down the last owner, but it died over two hundred years ago and the location of the object remains a mystery. However..." she added, seeing the look of fury that flashed across the Dark lord's face, " I managed to find an obscure manuscript, which tells of a small, unplottable island in the North sea. That is where it is said to be." "Good, well done Bella." Voldemort said, "I will finish this myself. Once I have broken the unplottable wards, the object will be mine. You are all dissmissed, except you Severus." The Death eaters filed out, all looking relieved to be walking out of the room unharmed. "Oh and Bella" Bellatrix paused at the door. "Crucio! Try to be more prompt with your information next time." He laughed as Bellatrix's screams echoed throughout the chamber. Picking herself up, she dragged herself out of the door. Voldemort turned to address Snape, "Severus, have you managed to obtain any information from Dumbledore?" Voldemort questioned. "I'm afraid not my lord," came Snape's nervous reply, " either he is unaware of the object's existence or is keeping it for himself." "No Dumbledore wouldn't dirty his hands with such a dark object, his biggest weakness of many. However, he will be aware of it, that muggle loving fool has an unfortunate habbit of concerning himself with matters that are none of his concern. The next time we meet, you will have that information will you not, Severus?" "Of course my lord." Snape replied. "Yes you will Snape, Crucio!" Snape writhed on the floor, screaming in agony.
