The Secret

I followed Shadow out the back door and caught up with him.

"What the hell is going on?" I asked.

"Keep running!" he shouted. He grabbed my hand and ran faster, dragging me with him.

I could here the guys behind me, running. We turned around a corner in the alley. There was a  fence about three meters high blocking the pathway to the end of the alley.

Instead of slowing down, I sped up, sprinting. When I was close I leaped into the air and shot my hands out behind me, pushing the air so I was able to clear the fence. I landed and turned to help Shadow, but he wasn't there.

He landed beside me.

"You can run up walls can't you?" I asked.

He grinned in return.

The guys ran to the fence, but couldn't get through.

One of them started shimmering, like it was the fumes that you see when you look at petrol.

"No, don't." Another guy said. "Let him go, he'll get what's coming."

The guy stopped shimmering.

"See you soon Shadow." the guy smiled. Then they all 'shimmered' and dissapeared.

"What the hell was that about?" I asked.

"I've made a few enemies over the years." he said.

"Care to elaborate?"

"Not really." he said.

"Shadow."

"Look, I'll explain later, let's just get out of here." he said.

"Fine," I said, turning to the exit, "But don't think this-"

I froze. Standing in the mouth of the alley, was Jeremy, who was staring at me.

"Crap."

"What- oh, crap." Shadow said.

"Marni?" I heard Jeremy say.

"Jeremy, it's not how it looks." I said, " Okay, it's exactly how it looks."

"What the hell is going on?" he asked.

"Well, honestly, I'm secretly a dinosaur." I said.

"I'm serious Marni." he said.

"So am I! Look," I did my best immatation of a dinosaur, "Rawr!"

I could here Shadow's muffled laughter from beside me.

Jeremy glared at me.

"Fine, I'm a witch, happy?" I said.

"A witch?" he asked.

"Yes, a witch. And not the kind that fly around on a broomstick either." I said.

"Yeah right," he said, "Prove it."

"If I must." I said. I held my hand out infront of me and closed my fist. I slowly opened it and a little flame was dancing on my palm.

"What the-" Jeremy said.

I swerved my hand around and a stream of fire swirled around me. I clicked my fingers and the fire dissapeared.

"Holy crap." Jeremy said.

I smiled sympathetically.

Two hours later, I was sitting on Jeremy's bed explaining to Jeremy about everything.

"I mean, sure I thought something must be out there, but whoa, witches? Vampires?" he said, shaking his head.

"It's all true." I said.

"I always knew Damon was to cold hearted to be human." he said.

I laughed.

"It's so weird, Stefan and Damon are vampires!" he said.

I heard laughter from the doorway. I spun to see who it came from.

Elena and Stefan were standing there. Elena had an amused expression on her face.

Stefan had a deathly one. And he was staring at me.
