Chapter Thirty

Lucy woke to the sounds of people running around; cries of pain and orders  being shouted out. She opened her eyes to see Aaron sitting in front of her with tears falling from his face.

“Shh it’s ok honey, mummy’s here” She says as she grabs hold of him and holds him closely to her.

She took in the sight in front of her the house was still blazing, which meant she hadn’t been out for long.

“Lucy!” She heard Hayden before he appeared in front of her wrapping her in his arms “Thank god I thought I lost you two”

“Where’s Travis and my friends” She asked him.

Hayden pulled back from hugging her “They are over near the cars,” He says not looking her in the eye’s

“Hayden what is it? What aren’t you telling me?” She asks latching on his arm trying to make him look at her.

“Hayden!” Jack voice interrupts them “We found where the device was I don’t know how he managed to hide a bomb in the pack house”

Hayden releases Lucy and stands up to talk to Jack. Lucy quickly stood up with Aaron still in her arms “Here can you take Aaron?” She asked Hayden.

Hayden reaches over and lifts his son into his arms.

Lucy starts walking slowly towards the vehicles Luke’s head is the first thing she sees followed by Cassy they were all leaning over something laying on the ground. Her first thought was “Oh god not Linda” But her fears were soon gone as she heard Linda’s loud cries. She finally reached her friends and it took her a moment to realise what they were leaning over, who they were leaning over.

“Travis” Lucy whispered.

Luke’s head shot up at the sound of Lucy’s voice “I’m so sorry Lucy. The force of the blast had thrown him into the car, It was too much for his human body”

Lucy dropped to her knees beside her brother’s body. “Travis” Was all she could say. She leaned over and scooped his lifeless body into her arms “NOOOOOOO!” She screamed out tears falling from her eye’s she started rocking back and forwards with her brother still in her  arms “No, no, no, no, no,” She kept saying over and over “I can’t lose you too, I cant. You hear me Travis wake up please wake up don’t leave me.” Warm arms engulfed her but she shook them off. “No. Don’t touch me!” She looked down at her brother’s bloodied body and kissed the top of his head “I’m so sorry Travis this is my entire fault. I’m so sorry I should have made you listen, should have made you leave." She sobbed "Please don’t leave me. I cant lose you”

“Lucy” Hayden said to his mate softly. “You need to let him go”

Lucy continued to rock back and forth still holding on to her brother “No his not dead he can’t be dead. Please god don’t take my brother from me too!”

She continued to rock while the rest of the pack hurried to put the fire out.

“What are we going to do now?” She heard Jack say.

She heard Hayden let out a deep breath. “I guess we move back to the pack house at Crystal Creek until we can rebuild this one.” Hayden replied. “How many were killed?” Hayden asked.

“Not as many as there could have been, most of the pack was outside. Kelly is dead”

“Who cares” Hayden replied. “Well I guess we should put the fire out and get moving to Crystal Lake pack house before it gets dark,” Hayden said

“What are you going to do with Lucy?” Jack asked Hayden.

“Mother is going to take care of her.” Hayden replied.
