Keeping The Light - poem

"When couples you know and love go through troubled times, which we all do, it is hard not to be affected. This is for those of my friends who need it."

~Keeping The Light~

For these two souls to fall
So effortlessly in love
Is a truly amazing thing
But that which must also be counted
Is what to the table
Does each one bring

For their nature cannot be hidden
only outshone momentarily
By a passionate sun
Until the root of each one's being is tested
Through upheaval and endurance of ages
With no fear of ever being undone

Then with both laid bare
The flaws of their love exposed
Their bright sun slips from their sights
~
But some light sneaks by this eclipse
And if willing to look they can see
The sun does return even after the darkest of nights

With knowledge, wisdom and hopefully love kept
Using this light in their dark times to see
It is with each other they do indeed belong
Added is the discovery they've found
That strength is needed for their love
While it is their love that makes them strong

So when stars once again light their evening sky
And their orbits with each other renewed intertwine
To once again be unhindered as to where they may go
They journey headlong towards their sun
With peacefully unconcerned
Moons in tow
