Lost Love

15 years old. 2008 (Aislinn)

    “New school, longer distance from home, only one friend,” Aislinn muttered to herself as she walked to the bus stop. She was finally going to high school! She should be excited… right? Quite the opposite. Since starting middle school, she and her former best friend Niall were quick to drift apart.

“Aislinn! Wait up!” says Aislinn’s only friend, Hazel from behind her.

“Hey Hazel!” Aislinn says as she greets her friend with a hug.

“Whatcha been up to? I missed you over the summer!”

“I went on a holiday to the Caribbean and I missed you so much!”

They continue on the walk together to the bus stop talking excitedly about their summers.

15 years old. 2008 (Niall)

    Niall was fiddling like mad with his fingers. He was on the bus on his way to high school. His first day of high school. The reason behind his fiddling fingers was because the bus was about to stop and where it was stopping is where his former best friend, Aislinn was about to get on. They hadn’t spoken since their first day of middle school and he was nervous about seeing her today. Niall’s parents had always driven him to school back then so he had never had to deal with the awkwardness.

The bus door opened and in walked Aislinn with her friend Hazel. He couldn’t help but stare at her. He had always thought she was beautiful but there was something different about her today. Aislinn catches him staring at her and Hazel follows her gaze.

“Who’s the cutie, Aislinn?” He hears Hazel whisper.

He reads her lips as she replies with a simple ‘nobody important’. Those words stabbed his heart! Aislinn had never known this, but since they were both 6 years old, all the way through middle school and at this very moment, he had been in love with Aislinn Murphy. He had never found out if the love was returned his way, but that was his goal for his first year of high school. Get back on track with Aislinn and find out if the love was mutual.

    Through the first couple of months of high school Niall tried his very best to get Aislinn’s attention, but she wasn’t giving in. It was Niall that had first ditched Aislinn on that first day of middle school. He understood she would stay mad for a few months. He was only eleven at the time! She should have forgiven him by now! But she had to hold a grudge for four years.

    All through high school, Aislinn didn’t speak a word to Niall. As much as it pained her, she had to come through on her promise to herself. The night before she started high school she promised herself she would not let Niall distract her from her education. She was going to be a dancer and apply for a scholarship at Julliard in New York City. She needed top marks for that and she wasn’t going to let anything, or anyone, stop her from that. Even if it meant she had to ignore the love of her life.

    She had never told anyone about her love for Niall Horan. Ever since they were six years old she could never seem to think about anyone but him. She knew it was love in middle school, when he ditched her and her feelings toward him never changed.

Short, I know, I tried not to go overboard with these catch up chapters where it skips there ages, I tend to take ages to get to the point, longer chapters from now on. The next one and everyone after that is in the present and it changes point of view only between Niall and Aislinn and not very often. Also; Aislinn's name is pronounced Ash-lyn.
