Chapter Twenty Seven-Just another problem.

One Month Later.

A lot had changed in the last month, I had moved out of Parker's house and back home to New York, but ever since I met that FBI agent this place never really felt like home anymore. I hadn't seen Special Agent Jake Parker since the day in the hospital and as far as I know he only just got released due to an infection, but he was fine now and he was planning to go back to work in the next couple of days. Mellissa had kept me up to date even if hearing about him just made it that much harder. In the beginning he would call me a lot, but I never picked up so he eventually left it with a few occasional text messages which I also ignored. I knew it wasn't fair, but I don't think I can trust him so it was better if I wasn't confusing either of us. Nate and Logan were both released, but Parker and I both still had a bad feeling that they were somehow involved but we couldn't prove it. Along with Allison Grey, there was still something off about her and her story, but once again we couldn't prove anything and considering her father had been shipped off to a maximum security prison, I don't think she would try anything anyway. My bullet wound to the shoulder had been healing nicely until about a week ago, so I was still in the sling, but I had gotten used to it by now. It was about four in the afternoon and I had been stuck in my apartment all day. Ever since I got back to New York I hadn't seen anyone or spoken to anyone. My birthday was a few weeks ago, so I did get a few calls and messages, but I chose to ignore them mainly because my birthday was never something I chose to celebrate, it really only reminded me of Tyler, who would be here with me celebrating his nineteenth birthday if Jonathon Grey hadn't murdered him in cold blood-

The sound of the doorbell broke through my thoughts "Really?" I mumbled to myself as I ambled off the couch and made my way towards the front door. I finally reached the door and when I opened it, I saw the very last person I ever expected to see "Nate?"

"Well, aren't you going to invite me in?" he smirked, but unfortunately for him that smirk only worked on me if it was coming from his brother.

I rolled my eyes and went to close the door on him, but he stopped me before I had the chance. He forced his way in with his hand tightly on my wrist "Nate let go!" I barked "I'm not in the mood for your crap."

He let out a small laugh "Don't you want answers?"

"Why in the hell would I believe anything you have to say." I glared at him as I spat each word.

Nate made his way, just a little too close "Alex you do realize I was cleared don't you?"

"Just because there was no evidence doesn't mean that you're not guilty."

"Actually, that's exactly what it means."

I noticed that my front door was still open and I thought about just making a run for it and ignoring everything he had to say, but I think I need to start facing my problems "Please leave." I gave him a sickly sweet smile hoping he would take the hint that I didn't want him here but unfortunately no such luck.

"I'm guessing you haven't received any messages in a while have you?" the words fell from his mouth, putting me into a state of shock which I fortunately soon snapped out of.

I furrowed my eyebrows at the man in front of me "It was you?" I asked the shock evident in my voice.

His chuckle almost vibrated my whole house following up with his composer "No, unfortunately it wasn't, but I do know who sent them."

"Who was--" I began, but I was cut off before I had the chance to finish.

"Nate?" That familiar voice that made my skin heat up just from the sound of it echoed through the hallway of my house; my eyes immediately snap towards the open front door. There he was Jake Parker, he had slight stubble instead of his usual clean shaven face and was wearing a dark pair of jeans with a dark blue T-shirt instead of his usual suit but he looked pretty much the same.
