RECIPE FOR TURKISH DELIGHT
Turkish Delight is a candy that originated in Turkey in the 1700's. The candy was featured in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S Lewis. The White Witch tempted a character, Edmund, with Turkish Delight. This easy Turkish Delight recipe will tempt you, too! What You'll Need: - 5 tbsp. corn starch - 1/2 cup cold water - 2 cups sugar - 1/2 cup orange juice - 1 tsp. rosewater or lemon juice - 2 cups pistachios or other nuts - fruit flavoring of choice (strawberry was used in the film) - food coloring according to flavor - powdered sugar Instructions: Mix corn starch with cold water and set aside. Set hot water, sugar, and orange juice at a boil and add corn starch mixture. Let simmer for 15 minutes and stir often. Remove from heat, add lemon juice, flavoring, and coloring. Stir in nuts and pour into a shallow pan. When cooled and thickened, cut into one inch squares with knife dipped in hot water. Roll cubes in powdered sugar. Enjoy! - End of eBook -
