You look so brave standing there
so tall and and bold in the cold night air
The gun you hold within your hand
You clutch so tightly, do we understand?
What have you achieved, what have you seen
Who's son have you killed, where have you been?
You're a man with a mission, you look so strong
Where is your wife, will you be gone long?
How do you feel when your fighting a war
People dying around you, slumped on the floor
The enemies blood must be everywhere
Pain and death in the freezing air
The noise, the bangs so loud in your head
Do you still hear them at home in your bed?
I look into the eyes on the statues face
Hoping he is now in a quieter place.
War means death, hurt and pain
Yet in the end........what does it gain?
