Today's discussion is on 'time'. People do all kinds of calculations - dasha
calculations, and all kinds of calculations are done to calculate time. Right? How
many dasha types you are having. In my knowledge itself, by now I would have
taught atleast 40 - 50 dashas. And there are gupta (secret) dashas, which even I
do not know of.
For example, when I have time, once in a while, I go through my childhood notes.
I remember what my Gurudeva used to say. Then I go and check up the
references. And when I go through them, sometimes with my students, we get to
find out that there is a hidden dasha here.
It happened in Puri, when Visti was supposed to be doing research with me. Then
I searched a reference. And when we were going through the Agni Purana, I told
Visti to check up these, these things. He read them and he said, 'I can't make
head or tail, but planets are mentioned over here.' And the translator, of course,
didn't know Jyotish. He didn't know what to make out of it. He just put
something.
Then I remembered my notes and beautifully translated it. And I told him this is
what it means. We did that and sent it to Narasimha, to put it in the program and
see whether we can use it. And then, Narasimha asked me what is the name of the
dasha. I said, 'I do not remember what my Gurudeva told was the name.' I was
very honest. Now, I was not able to remember. So many years back he had told
me something.
So, he said - 'What is it for?' I said, 'It is for intelligence.' Agni inspires your
intelligence. He said, 'Well, since we do not know what it is, we'll call it
Buddhigati Dasha.' I said, 'All right. Call it that. But that is not the thing. Keep in
mind that when we get a proper reference, we'll use that name.'
So, he tried it. He said, 'How can it work like this. It is peculiar. I've never seen a
method of calculation like this.' It has a totally different way of calculating dasha
system. I said, 'Why don't you try it.' So he tried it. As many blind charts he
picked up, people I don't know, his relatives, everywhere it worked bull's eye.
Then he realised it is a phenomenal dasha system. I said, 'Yes it is.'
Like this, there are hidden dasha systems in the Puranas. There is so much
hidden knowledge, which will come out. Our idea is to work harder and take it
out. But how can we study these Dashas? How can we understand the quality of
time if we don't understand what is time.
What is time? What is good time? What is the quality of time? How do you define
time as good quality or bad quality? What is the basis of defining time?
Now, whenever we use a word like good, bad, evil, painful, happiness - these are
all emotions. It is anubhava (experience). It is emotions. Based upon experiences
and emotions, we are saying something is good or bad.
Goelji and I had halwa (sweet) today. We felt happy about it. It was a good
experience. So we take it as a good time. Atleast that madhura swada (...
