Jeremy sat down in front of me.

"Who was that guy?" he asked.

"Just some guy I know." I replyed.

"Would that guy have a name?" he asked.

"Shadow."

"Shadow?" he asked, laughing a bit. "What kind of aname is Shadow?"

"I'm presuming it's a nickname." I said, knowing that what I just said wasn't true.

"Oh." he said.

We were silent for a moment.

"So whats this about your birthday next week?" Jeremy asked.

"It's my birthday next week." I replyed.

"Obviously, but why didn't you tell me?"

"I had actually forgotten about it before Shadow mentioned it." I said truthfully.

"Come on, people don't just forget about their birthday." he said.

"Well, let's just say I'm not like other people." I said.

After that my day was usual. I hung out with Jeremy, went to his place and watched a movie, said hi to Elena. That was usually how it was.

When I got home I walked up to Damon.

"Why didn't you tell me my birthday was next week?" I asked.

"It didn't come up." he said.

"Whenever it's my birthday your always excited and all 'OMG ITS MARNI'S B-DAY!!'.Where has all of your excitment gone?" I asked suspiciously.

"I don't know, maybe I dropped it on the ground somewhere." he said.

"You are so weird." I said, and walked up to my room.

It was one in the morning and I still couldn't get to sleep. I heard a noise at the window, so I turned over to see if anything was there.

There was nothing. I flipped my legs over the edge of my bed and got up to open the windw to let some air in. I stepped back and suddenly someone was standing in front of me.

"Boo!"

I gasped, but relaxed when I saw it was Shadow.

"Whoa. Don't go all Edward Cullen on me now." I said, laughing at the cliche of a vampire appearing through a window.

"Well I couldn't exactly come through the front door could I?" he said.

"Hmm, I guess not." I said. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"I was bored, saw that you were awake, came and visited." he said.

"You were watching me?" I asked, raising one eyebrow.

"No, I was walking past and happened to look in your window."

"Yeah... see this is why I call you a creepy stalker." I said.

"Ah, I see your point." he said.

"And how did you know it was my birtchday next week?"

"I know a lot about you." he said.

"Okay..." I said.

"Anyway, you never finished explaining about being half witch half vampire to me." I said.

"Well, what do you want to know?" he asked.

"What abilities do you have?"

"Well, I'm exactly like a vampire, but my thirst for blood isn't as strong. I have witch powers, and I can choose when I stop aging." he said.

"What do you specialise in?" I asked.

"I actually haven't specialised. I do a little of everything." he said.

"Show me." I said.

"If I must." he dissappeared for a second, then reappeared with a handful of leaves. He set them down on my bed and placedhis handabove them.

He lifted his and and a couple of leaves began to float upwards.

"Cool." I said.

I raised my hand and a leaf shot upwards. I stopped it in midair, and then curled my hand into a fist, and the leaf lit on fire. It burnt up until it was just ashes. I moved my hand again, and the ashesdrifted out the window.

"I'm guessing you specialise in the elements?" Shadow asked.

"Yeah."I replyed.

"I also use crystals." I said.

"Yeah, me too." he said.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, why do you think I warned you about them." he said.

"So you were warning me about the crystals." I said.

"Well, just one crystal actually. The necromancer crystal." he said.

"Oh." I said.

"See-"

I heard the door open and looked over to see Damon standing there. When he noticed Shadow, he bared his fangs and growled at him.

Shadow did the same back to Damon.

"Crap." I muttered.
