The next few days, I avoided Sawyer like he had some kind of disease. You want to know why? Well, it's because when he was around my heart raced and raced. My stomach twisted in knots and most importantly, I felt super awkward being around him.
It was on day six when my feelings for him kind of vanished. On this day, I met his girlfriend, Cassy Jennings. She was the definition of pretty: Blonde and slim. No, she wasn't just slim. She was thin. She was also very nice and outgoing. From what I had heard, she was also part of the popular group at their school. Moreover, she was captain of the dance squad. No doubt, boys like Sawyer would like girls like Cassy.
"Hey, give it me!" Cassy whined, trying to yank the remote control out of Sawyer's hands.
"No!" Sawyer laughed and raised his hand in the air while still holding the remote control.
I sighed but my face turned crimson when I noticed they both turned to look at me "Hey, Riley," Sawyer greeted, smiling.
"Hey guys," I said softly, shifting my gaze from them to the floor.
"Hey, Riley." Cassy acknowledged, gracing me with a sincere smile. "Do you want to join us?"
"No," I said quickly, shaking my head. "I actually got some...stuff to do."
Before they could start up a conversation with me, I turned on my heels and walked out of the room. There was no way I could be in the same room as them without being jealous of Cassy's natural beauty and outgoing personality.
Walking up the stairs, I saw Mason coming down. His eyes widened in delight when he saw me. "What a lovely surprise, sweetheart!" he greeted slyly, blocking my passage.
"Um...hey," I murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I tried to maneuver around him but he moved right along with me, extending his arm out and blocking my path. "Do you want something?"
"Actually, yes. Yes I do," he answered. "I want to go out."
"Okay, then go out?" I said, quirking an eyebrow. "No one is stopping you."
He chuckled softly, lips curling into a smile. "Let me rephrase that. I want you to go out with me."
What? Is this his way of asking me out?
Pft, as if.
"Why?" I folded my arms over my chest.
Mason rolled his eyes. "Because you've been in this house for four days straight."
I scoffed. "Shouldn't you be with one of your girlfriends?"
From my past few days' experience, I had already figured out that Mason was a jerk when it came to relationships. His brothers were no different. Trent would only be with girls for a week. Then he would discard them like yesterday's newspaper. Sawyer would date a girl for no more than two months. But Sawyer was slightly better than Mason, Trent, and even Spencer. At least Sawyer always called the girl his girlfriend for that two-month period. The word 'girlfriend' did not exist in Spencer or Mason's vocabulary list. They had a strict 'friends with benefits' policy. Spencer would just pick up random girls who seemed to have an interest for him. He liked the idea of a one-night stand and he didn't usually go for a second time. Even Vince and Wesley were starting to follow his brothers' footsteps, although Wesley proved to be someone with more decency. However, all of them are exactly the same. All except for Aaron and Liam since they were too young to even consider being in a relationship.
"They aren't my girlfriends. They are just my," he smirked at me, "special buddies. They are the fuel to my sex life."
