Mate To The Supposed Big Bad Wolf

Mate to the supposed big bad wolf.

(this is not an arranged marriage story.You'll see what i mean.)

I dumped my bag on the floor beside the door and kick of my shoes.

“Mum I’ve got my end of year exam results” I yelled out waving a large yellow envelope in my hand.

“Mum?”

I walked over to the kitchen hearing her taking something out of the oven.

“Hey” I said chucking the envelope on the table and taking a cookie of the tray my mum was holding.

“Ah your exam results” she said placing the tray on the table and giving me a smile.

Mums smile didn’t quiet touch her eyes and she didn’t fully look at me.

“What’s wrong?” I asked bitting the cookie.  

She sighed.

"I have, I have something to tell you.”

Oh no, I thought I knew where this was going to go.

“I’ve held it off. Now that you’ve finished year ten there’s no excuse anymore” she said pushing her hair of her forehead.

“We have to move again” I sighed putting the half eaten cookie on the bench. It warm sweet taste no longer appealing.

“Well yes but I’m not coming with you” Seeing my face she continued. “It’s not safe they’ll find us if where together. But I’ve found a good place. You can go and stay with my friend and their son who runs the pack.”

I stuck my chin out “I’m not going.”

“But it’ll be good for you, really good. You need to learn about your kind” she said touching my hand.

I looked at her brown eyes. “But that’s not all is it?”

 "Honey you're in an arranged marriage, I'm sorry really I am"

 I narrowed my eyes and heat flew through me. My hands balled up into fist by my sides. My stepped back.

"What the hell? Don't I mean anything to you? You tell me I'm cold hearted and look what you've gone and done" I screamed.

I'm sure the neighbours already thought we were wacky and now I'm sure they'll be certain.

"I had to do it I had no other choice we got kicked out of the pack and..." but she couldn't finish her sentence.

The only reason why I calmed down and didn’t let the rage overtake me was because of Mum, how she looked close to tears. I tried to calm myself down but it wasn't working like it usually would. 

"I'm going for a run" I say "I won't be back till later" a lot later I thought. With that I ran out of the house before she could reply.

I kept running until I was in the woods where I could finally let my wolf take over.

I heard my bones and joints snapping into place and could feel fur sprouting out of my skin.

As soon as the transformation was over I took off into a run to my favourite spot a beautiful crystal blue lake.

 I sat by the lake looking at my reflection of my wolf. My eyes where the colour of burning embers and my fur was snow white but the tips of my fur were the colour of fire and seemed to flicker and dance like they were alive.

Despite the colour of my wolf I controlled the element earth not fire. I had always loved the way the leaves swirled around me and how the grass swayed beneath me but I especially loved having the extra connection with animals.

When I got up to leave now feeling peaceful and calm I felt another wolfs presence.

Feeling the power radiating of him I got ready to attack. But as I turned I saw only the wind swirling around the place where he had stood.

 Weird I thought. I’d never seen another wolf around here before.
