As the doorknob started to jiggle, I started to feel panic, along with the dread that has been building up in the past hour. I glance at the large, old empty flight cage that had once held my Aunt Renee’s Red-tailed Hawk, Xavier.
“Oh man, she going to kill me!” I thought to myself.
“Lillian Snow, you let me into this room this instant!” Aunt Renee yelled though the door.
I sighed and stood up from where I was sitting. Looking around, I saw no other exits. Turning back to the door, I took a deep breath and unlock the door.
“About time!” she said as she came into the room. After a quick look at the room, she looks back at me and takes in my pale face.
“Why did you lock the door and why do you look scared?”, she asked me.
“I-I-I am s-s-s-so s-sorry, Aunt R-Renee!”
“About what?” she said, looking baffle “and why do you have the window open? I told you to never open this window.”
She started walking towards the window to close it. I looked at her, then at the floor and then back at her aunt.
“Xavier, he is gone”. I finally said.
Aunt Renee froze in mid-step. She looked at me for a few minutes, then to the cage and finally at the window.
“What happen?” she asked while staring at the window.
