I'm a vampire's slave. And pregnant?!

I heard the sweet cry of Lyric. It was like music to my ears. I tried to steady my breathing as Salem leaned down and kissed me on the forehead. He pried my hand off of his. I didn’t even realize I was still squeezing his hand. I let my grip on Dad’s hand go as well. Dad smiled down at me and moved my hair out of my face, “You’re a new mom, now.”

I smiled up at him. It meant everything to me that he was in here with us. I’ve become so close to Dad in the last few months and he’s tried to do everything he can for me to make up the lost time he never got to spend with me. It lets me know he really cares about me and feels bad about not being there. The doctor’s leaned down and handed me Lyric, all bundled up in a thick pink blanket. I looked down her. She looked up at me with beautiful dark blue eyes. I smiled, “Salem, she has your eyes.”

Salem smiled, “She looks so much like you. I’m going to have to keep her locked away so no guys can ever get near her.”

Dad chuckled, “I’m pretty sure between you, Liam, and me, we can frighten any boy that even looks at her.”

I leaned down and placed a kiss on top of Lyric’s head. I looked up at Salem, “Do you want to hold her?”

Salem’s eyes got big and he shook his head, “I couldn’t. I’m afraid I’ll drop her.”

Dad chuckled again, “You won’t drop her. Just hold her.”

Salem looked up at Dad and nodded before leaning down and picking her up. He held her awkwardly but smiled down at her and placed a kiss on her forehead, “Welcome to the world, Lyric. You’re so beautiful, like your mommy.”

I blushed and smiled. The two people I love the most are right in front of me. Dad wiped my forehead with a cold washrag, getting the sweat off of my face. I was still in pain from giving birth and I was dying of thirst. I looked up at Dad. He smiled down at me, “I’m so proud of you.”

I smiled. There’s nothing better than hearing your dad tell you he’s proud of you, “Thank you. Will you take a picture of Salem and Lyric?”

Dad nodded before pulling out his camera and taking a picture for me. Lyric’s first picture is the most adorable first picture ever. I wonder if I had a first picture. Did I have any pictures of me from before I became Salem’s slave? I can ask Grayson if he’s seen any pictures around Rhage’s house of me. After the whole Trent incident, Rhage adopted Grayson. And that whole me having powers thing and Rhage wanting to drink my blood? It was just town gossip and an old myth put together because I was born full human when I should have been half vampire and half human. Rhage has never wanted to hurt me. So it worked out that he changed Grayson. I even gave him the idea of adopting him since he wanted a family so bad.

Salem whispered some more things to Lyric that I couldn’t hear.  But I could tell he was happy by the way he seemed like he was glowing. Salem leaned down and handed Lyric back to me, putting her gently into my arms before planting a kiss on my cheek. “I love you so much, baby doll.”

“I love you, too, babe.” I said to him before kissing him on the lips. I looked down at Lyric. I could see she also shared Salem’s nose. She was so beautiful. It’s hard to believe she’s in this world because of me. I carried her for nine months. I made her, along with Salem, of course. I looked up at Dad. He had been taking pictures, “Do you want to hold her?”

“Of course I do.” Dad said before putting his camera down on the nightstand and picking up Lyric. Salem pulled his phone out and sent a text before leaning down and kissing me again, “Do you want something to drink? Or something to eat?”

“I’m thirsty.” I said softly. Salem nodded and pulled a bottle of water out of the mini fridge and handed it to me. I chugged it down. The door to the room opened to reveal Atticus and Camille, walking in hand in hand. Camille walked over to me and gave me a hug. It’s hard to believe that within six months my best friend has become pregnant and is now my sister-in-law. Camille giggled and looked over at Lyric, “She’s so pretty, Audrey. How does it feel?”

“It feels so amazing.” I said softly. Atticus came over to me and gave me a hug, “Congrats, baby sister.”

I hugged Atticus tightly. He’s been so supportive of me through the whole thing. I yawned. I’ve been in labor for eight hours, so I’m super tired. Liam and Serena came through the door next. Serena instantly took Lyric from Dad, cuddling her tightly. Liam smiled down at me, “I found something last week. I think it might mean a lot to you to have it back and to be here with you during this special moment.”
