Chapter 2
I waited all afternoon for Josh to text me. I couldn’t seem to get him off of my mind. I literally thought about just him until I heard my phone go off. It was him.
“Hey! Sorry about not texting you earlier, I had a meeting with the SBNN crew. What time were you thinking of going out to eat? :)” I got butterflies in my stomach as I read the text. God, what is wrong with me? I’ve only talked to the guy for five minutes and now I’m all giddy over him? Pull yourself together, Bri.
“No worries! I was thinking around 6:30-7:00? Does that work for you?”
I knew the perfect place for us to go and eat. It was kind of an upscale restaurant and it was a five minute walk from my Condo. I looked at the clock and it was around 5:00 pm. I knew it was going to take me awhile to get ready, so I started a little early. While I was waiting for Josh to reply, I went straight for my closet to decide on an outfit that would catch Josh’s eye. I found a deep red high-low skirt, and a cute little white top. I heard my phone go off from the bed and I knew it would be Josh.
“Yup! Sounds great! Where are we going? What should I wear? ;)” I read his text and almost squealed with excitement. I couldn’t wait to see him again.
“It’s a surprise! ;) Wear something nice, a dress shirt, maybe?”
I got into the shower so I could relax a little until Josh came over. I was a little nervous because, well, let’s face it, Josh is hot as hell and I didn’t want to act like a complete idiot in front of him. Because I was a year younger than Josh, I really didn’t want him to think I was immature. I got out of the shower and checked my phone for any missed messages. There was one from Josh.
“Aww, you suck! :P Alright, I’ll be over at 7:00 then. :)” I texted him back a quick reply and started to get ready. I took another look at the clock and it was going on 6:00. I had to get ready fast.
About an hour later, I was pretty much finished and I just had to get dressed. I slipped on my clothes and went into the bathroom to put on my favourite necklace and earrings. I was about to touch up my mascara when I heard my buzzer go off from the living room.
“Shit, he’s here a little early.” I said to myself, making my way to the living room.
“Hello?” I said into the buzzer.
“Hey, Gabriella. It’s Josh. Do you want me to wait in the lobby or..?”
“Hey! No, you can come up. My room number is P3303, at the very top.”
“Alright, I’ll be up in a second.” I smiled and went back to the bathroom to put on my jewellery. I heard Josh knock on the door a minute or so later. I was putting the finishing touches on my look, and couldn’t really answer the door.
“Hey, you can come in!” I yelled from the bathroom. I heard the front door open as I was putting my last earring in. I walked out of the bathroom and saw Josh staring out the floor-to-ceiling window in my living room.
“Nice view, eh?” I asked with a laugh. Josh turned around and jumped slightly.
“Oh, you scared me!” We both laughed a little. “Yeah, it’s gorgeous, and you look gorgeous too.” Josh said with a smile. I couldn’t help but blush.
“Thanks.”
“Hey, this is a nice piano. Do you play, Gabriella?” He asked as he turned around and spotted the Grand Piano across the room.
“Please, don’t call me that.” I laughed. “Call me Bri. Yeah, I used to. I just have it for looks now.”
“Sorry, Bri.” Josh teased. I hit him lightly across the arm. “Ow! Rude.” We both laughed a little.
“Can you play still?” He asked, going to the piano again.
“Probably. I haven’t played at all since I’ve moved in here. I’ve been so busy.” I said sitting down on the bench. “Do you want to hear? It’s probably going to be horrible though!” I laughed lightly.
“Yeah, that’d be awesome. And I’m sure you’re not that rusty.” Josh sat down beside me and I felt a little tingle in my stomach when our hips touched. I started playing the first song that came to mind and just started singing.
“I’m running out of ways to make you see. I want you to stay right here beside me. I won’t be okay, and I won’t pretend I am. So just tell me today and take my hand. Just say yes, there’s nothing holding you back. It’s not a test, nor a trick of the mind, only love.”
