Past lunch na nang makapasok siya sa kanyang opisina. Hindi kaagad siya nakatulog kagabi. It was already past midnight when Rohan sent her home. Sa kanilang mansion siya nagpahatid.

Usually she stays in the penthouse unit of her own building that housed the corporate office of GOC. But lately, sa mansion ng mga Elizalde na siya umuuwi. Hindi rin naman kasi iyon kalayuan. Just a few minutes drive from the Elizalde Tower. She already partook her brunch before coming to work. Wala si Roshelle sa puwesto nito nang makarating siya. Tuloy-tuloy siyang pumasok sa loob ng kanyang opisina. She wasn't totally over with the hulaballoo that happened last night in her engagement party, but she brushed her worries away the moment she sank her butt in her swivel chair. She focused her energies to her workloads for the day. Ang dami niyang trabaho na dapat asikasuhin.

Busy siya nang kumatok si Roshelle at sumilip sa pintuan. "Good afternoon, Ma'am Diadem," bati nito.

"Good afternoon, too, Roshelle," sagot niya habang hindi ito nililingon.

"Anything you need, Ma'am? Do you want coffee?"

Hindi siya maayos na nakatulog kagabi. In fact, buong magdamag siyang gising. Alas-singko nang umaga na yata siya nakatulog. That was why for the first time in almost a decade, she was late. "Please make me a cup of coffee," utos niya na hindi pa rin nililingon si Roshelle. She heard the door shut. Minutes later, her secretary came back with a hot cup of coffee.

Ipinatong nito ang platito sa kanyang mesa at ang tasa ng kape. "You're coffee, Ma'am..."

"Thanks!" She took a moment to glance at Roshelle. Her forehead burrowed when she saw her face. She was looking at her with worry. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"Alam n'yo na ba ang nangyari, Ma'am Diadem?"

Mas lalong lumalim ang gatla sa kanyang noo. "Nangyari? Anong nangyari?"

"May emergency meeting kasing nangyari kanina, Ma'am. All the board members were here. I was calling you a while ago but you're not answering your phone."

She was still sleeping in the morning. Her phone was on a silent mode. Nakita nga niya ang number of missed calls ni Roshelle kanina. "Emergency meeting? For what?" Wala iyon sa schedule ng kumpanya. And she had no idea.

Roshelle fidgeted.

"Come on, Roshelle. Ano ang nangyari?" she snapped at her.

"Kasi, Ma'am Diadem..." sandali itong nag-alangan. "A new chairman of the board was elected during the emergency meeting this morning."

"Paano nangyari iyon?" Kaagad ang pagtaas ng kanyang boses.

"Si Sir Vince kasi, Ma'am. Ang sabi eh nabili niya yung shares ng dalawa pang board members. So he has more shares than you now. And the Board of Directors formally appointed him as the new chairman."

She was more than shocked with the bad news. Oh my God! Nangyari na ang kinatatakutan niya? Vince was now the new chairman of Global Oil? She freaked out. Nabitawan niya ang hawak na ballpen. A sudden storm of fear washed through her. Hindi puwedeng maging chairman ng board ng GOC si Vince! He would make the company go bankrupt! That was what he wanted to do! Hindi niya kailanman makakalimutan ang sinabi nito sa kanya noon - his plans to snatch the chairmanship from her so he could do evil things to bankrupt the company. The thought ripped through her heart. She couldn't afford this! She couldn't bear this! Oh God! Oh God! What would she do now? Nagpa-panic na siya. Ilang beses siyang napasinghap. Para siyang isang isda na kinuha sa tubig at iniwan sa lupa. She couldn't breathe in misery. Naninikip ang kanyang dibdib. Pinukpok niya ng kanyang kamay ang kanyang dibdib habang pinipilit na huminga. Pero hindi niya makontrol ang emosyon. Her heart pounded heavier, stressing her even more.

"Ma'am Diadem, anong nangyayari? Okay ka lang?" si Roshelle na kaagad siyang dinaluhan.

Pakiramdam niya ay nanghihina siya at kumapit siya sa babae. Her blood was already running short of oxygen. She felt as if someone had snapped out her wits. A moan of terror escaped from her mouth as she lost consciousness.
