Hi guys, my name is Katie or finicksugarcube and this will be the first 'proper' fanfic that I have written so I do apologise for any mistakes or if it's bad and so on. I do not own twilight, Stephenie Meyer does, I'm just playing around with the characters. I will try and update frequently so I apologise if I don't. Constructive crit is welcome. I hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think.

Hi, my name is Bella Swan and I'm 25. I work in a coffee shop, because that's all I can do. Make coffee. Today I woke up with a migraine, then again its not unnatural for me to wake up with a migraine. Ever since that day, I have woken up with some sort of headache. I try to never think about what happened a year ago, but sometimes it's hard not to, when the nightmares of what happend drift into my subconscious whilst sleeping. It's not unnatural for me to start screaming in the middle of the night and awake my poor room mate. Alice, bless her, has been there for me ever since that day. She knows it all.

I have known Alice nearly all of my life. We first met in kindergarten, Alice stumbled over to me and introduced herself: "Hello, I'm Alice Cullen and I'm going to be your best friend." 20 years later and she is still my best friend. She stuck with me all throughout middle school and high school when everyone avoided me because of my nervous break-downs. Everyone avoided me apart from Alice. Alice was my hero.

At that moment, Alice poked her head through my bedroom door, essentially tearing me away from my inner monologue. "Morning sleepy head," she said. As soon as I looked up, she saw the tears running down my cheeks and hurriedly climbed into bed with me. "What's wrong Bella?" she asked knowingly. The only time I cry is when I thought of the incident but my therapist said that talking it out will help me so whenever I cry, Alice makes it her vendetta to get me to talk about how I'm feeling.

"I was just thinking about how we met and how you stuck by me all of these years. Thank you for that," I smiled at her.

Throughout the years, I have gotten good at avoiding Alice's Spanish Inquisition.

"I know you're avoiding the main problem," Or not. "I'm going to let it slide this morning because it is now 7:30am and I need to open up, and get everything ready for when the shop opens at 8am. Come down when you're ready Bells." I nodded.

Did I mention that Alice and I own a coffee shop and we live in the apartment above it?

Alice got out of my bed and headed for the door. Just as she was about to open the door, she spun around and ordered "You will tell me what you were thinking once all the customers have gone, okay?" She didn't even wait for an answer before she pulled the door open and walked out, closing the door behind her.

After taking my medication and some painkillers for my migraine, I got dressed in my work uniform, skinny ripped jeans and a black t-shirt, and headed downstairs into the coffee shop. Our coffee shop is not huge by any means but the amount of people that come in for coffee is huge, and I have to talk to every. single. one of them. I'm socially awkward so working at the till is difficult for me, but I can see an improvement from last year when we just opened. For the first 6 months, I couldn't even look a stranger in the eye, now I'm able to talk to them, but only for a few hours at a time.

It was soon lunch time so I quickly hung up my apron and got my jacket. Before I left, I asked Alice if she wanted any lunch, she replied with "Anything," whilst making a caramel cappucino for a customer. I got my phone, keys and purse and headed for the door when I walked into a wall of muscle and fell on my butt.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Let me help you up," the deep voice sputtered whilst thrusting a hand at me to help me up. With hesitation, I took the proffered hand and stood up. When I was steady on my two left feet, I looked up into the eyes of the most beautiful man I have ever seen. His eyes were a deep shade of green and his tousled hair was a unique shade of bronze, it looked so soft that I wanted to run my hair through it - if I could reach it that is, he must be over 6ft tall and I'm dwarfed compared to him at my mere 5ft 4. Still not letting go of his hand, I smiled at him. He returned it and it was the most perfect grin I had ever seen. Could he be anymore perfect? Gah. He furrowed his brow then and removed his hand from my grasp and put it in his trouser pocket where his other hand was residing, cueing a blush on my face that makes me look like a tomato. "Uhm, so are you okay? You're not hurt are you? I didn't mean to make you fall," he had the most adorable frown on his face.

"Hey it's okay, don't frown, I'm okay. I'm not injured, I'm a clumsy person so ending up on my ass was about to happen," I giggled whilst trying to console him. A small smile appeared on his face and he chuckled, holding a hand out for me to shake.

"My name is Edward, and I am really sorry," He said guiltily.

"Nice to meet you, Edward," I smiled whilst shaking his hand. "I'm Isabella, but most people just call me Bella," I blushed. This has been the longest conversation I have had without Alice by my side. I think I'm starting to get better.

Edward smiled that perfect grin and replied "Nice to meet you too Bella."

We were both smiling at each other like a pair of fools until someone shoved me out of the way because I was 'blocking the door' and I unceremoniously fell into Edward... Again. It's called excuse me, moron. Edward just scowled at the idiot that pushed me and if looks could kill, they would be dead by now.

Edward looked down at me and smiled with so much adoration in his eyes whilst he wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I think I heard him mutter "you fit perfectly under my chin," but I couldn't be sure. I looked up at him and started to pull away, he got the idea and let me go. I took a step back and looked at the time. Wow that went quickly, I have to start work again in 10 minutes.

Edward started to shuffle his feet and furrow his eyebrows into a questioning look. "Bella," he paused. I looked up to him and smiled shyly, whenever he said my name it made me get goose bumps. "Would you like to have lunch with me today?" he asked nervously. I wanted to accept, but I couldn't because I had to get back to work in 5 minutes. I told him as such and he looked so disappointed that I quickly added "I'm off tomorrow so I could guess we can grab lunch then?"

He smiled at that. "It would have to be a late lunch because I finish work at 2pm. We can meet here just after because I work just around the corner from here. Is that okay with you?"

Here, at the coffee shop? Is that wise Bella? Alice will be here and spying on the two of you. Then again, it might be a good idea to have Alice close by, just incase.

"Bella?"

Coming out of my reverie, I looked into Edwards expectant gaze and nodded. "I'd love that, see you tomorrow, here, at 2."

He chuckled at my enthusiasm "See you tomorrow Bella." At that, he waved, turned and left, walking around the corner.

I released the breathe I didn't realise I was holding and walked back into the coffee shop.
