I smiled and hugged my father as he gave me my new tiara. It was covered in diamonds and purple stones that I didn't know the name of. Father said they were worth many gold.
He placed it on top of my head my black curls spilling down my shoulders. I wished my brother was here to celebrate my birthday but father had sent him to our cousins across the lake. He was training to be king like father.
Before brother had left he'd given me a braclet with a bright blue stone. A moon stone he had called it. It was very pretty and nothing like I'd seen before.
Brother had told me to always wear it, it was for protection against the blood walkers.
I shivered at the thought of the blood walkers. They were wolves like me and my family but they had no humanity. They killed children and women and drank their blood. They fed on raw meat unlike my kind. Blood walkers and blood children were our enemies.
Blood children were nothing like us wolves yet they were just as fast. Father said they were born out of the darkest part of hell breed to kill the pure hearted souls. They drained the life of their victims not leaving a drop of blood.
I shook away the thoughts of horrid creatures. Today was my birthday and I was suppose to be happy. I was 217 this summer a child compared to my parents. I never quite understood how my family got to live forever but the humans in our kingdom never lived past 70. They had such short lives. It was sad really.
I would live forever looking the same as I did now. Father explained that I was an orignal. One of the first wolves ever created. Nothing could kill me. Even if my head was cut of and my body burned. My body would mend itself togeather.
Orignals could be binded though. My cousin Racheal was the first of us to be binded. She had fallen in love with a blood child which was forbidden. My father had her binded for a 1,000 years as punishment. The blood child was killed.
I shuddered at the thought of being binded. My father had two binding boxes for me and my brother. One for punishment and one for safty. If I was ever placed in the safety chamber the only way it would ever open would be if my true soulmate touched it. A spell only a winter witch could cast on a binding chamber. It was the only way to insure I was truly safe.
I smiled at my father and mother who were giving each other looks only soul mates could give.
Father said our creater the moon goddess picked a spcieal someone for each and every wolf. We never knew when we were going to meet our soul mate but when we did it would be for life. Or well forever if you were mated to an orignal like me or my brother.
Father said me and my brother were the last orignals and that to all other wolves were considered gods. It was a wierd thing to think of my self as a goddess but father explained that I could do things no normal wolf would ever be able to do or dream.
"Ana." My father called his rings gleaming on his hand as he held it out for me. I reached out and took his hand just as a large booming sound shook the room. I screamed as did my mother.
My fathers eyes sparkled with something I'd never seen before. Before anyone could react the door to our chambers was thrown open.
I screamed in shock as Racheal my cousin stormed in her face dirty her hands bleeding. Some one had released her from her binding. Blood thirst filled her eyes and I knew she was here to get revenage her lover.
I screamed in agony as Racheal moved forward and ripped my mothers head off before throwing it across the room.
"Mama!" I cried running toward her body. I was jerked back by my father his hold strong.
Racheal thrusted her hand in my mother's chest and ripped her heart out then tore it apart killing my mother in only a way a orginal could. Our hearts were bound by moon glamour meaning if any other creature but an orignal touched it they would perish instantly.
My mother was gone.
Racheal had killed her.
I screamed calling out but I knew she was dead. It had happen in mere seconds and their was nothing I could have done. Blood children suddenly filled the room making my fear choke me. Even with our powers we were no match for so many blood children.
Before I could move my father picked me up and ran into his chambers slaming the door behind us. He tore the floor boards up revealing two binding chambers.
"Papa no." I cried shaking my head. I jumped as a heavy object ran into the door. My father grasped my shoulders tightly tears in his eyes.
"I love you my little wolf be brave." He kissed my forehead and slipped something into my hand before picking me up and laying me in the binding chamber.
"Papa no!" I screamed trying to climb out but he pushed me back down and slide the stone top over stealing any chance of escape.
"No! No papa please don't do this!" I screamed trying to push the stone lid off but I suddenly felt the spell locking it place. Just before I was locked into the binding darkness I heard my father's last cry of pain.
