Chapter 20 :)

Patricia’s P.O.V

‘So, when is your brother coming to Melbourne?’ Jai asked me as we were walking home.

‘Oh I forgot to tell you, there was a change of plans so now my parents and my little sister are going over to Sydney for two weeks. They thought that if they took me with them it would “interrupt my studies”.’ I told him.

I actually couldn’t believe that my whole family was just going to ditch me for two weeks and they only told me yesterday and they were leaving tomorrow. But then again, I guess I could have the freedom I always wanted.

‘So you have the whole house to yourself?’ he asked me.

‘Tomorrow I will, they haven’t left yet.’

‘Um, Trish. Can I ask you something?’ he looked at me weirdly.

‘Yeah.’

‘Is it just me or was Skip acting really weird today. Like I’m not saying you did anything wrong but as soon as you came over, he just put on his headphones and stayed out of the conversation. And I know Skip really well and he doesn’t do that. Him and Beau are usually the ones that are always talking.’ Jai said as he gripped my hand and started swinging it.

‘Yeah, I noticed it too but I thought maybe he was just tired or something. Did I do anything wrong?’ I quickly asked making sure I hadn’t done something.

‘No, no, no. I was just asking. Sorry if I made it out to be as if it was your fault.’ He said reassuringly.

‘Nah, I didn’t think of it like that.’

‘Ok, good.’ He sighed with relief.

We had finally got to my house and he gave me a kiss goodnight.

Beau’s P.O.V

As soon I saw Skip the next day I told him I wanted to talk to him.

‘Oi, what?’ he asked surprised.

‘What was stuck up your ass that whole time last night?’ I asked.

‘What d’you mean?’ he said looking away from me.

‘I mean that the whole time Patricia was here you didn’t say a word. Do you like her again? You told me you got over that.’

‘Just piss off.’ He said angrily.

‘Dude, I’m just trying to protect my brother, and you.’ I grabbed his arm.

‘How are you “protecting me”?’ he asked looking back at me.

‘Because they’re pretty much in love, they’re gonna announce their wedding anytime soon that’s how close they are. I’m not trying to rub it in or anything… I’m just saying that nothing’s going to tear them apart. Just remember that.’ I said trying not to offend him though.

‘You wanna know the truth? Well, the truth is that she’s all I think about. How am I supposed to just sit here and watch them act like the perfect couple when they don’t belong together. And now Luke is with Hannah, they can go on double dates.’ He said sarcastically.

‘Skip, stop feeling sorry for yourself. It’s not like Patricia is the only girl in the world that you’re everygoing to like. And by the way, they are a good couple. Don’t say stuff you’re going to regret.’

‘You don’t understand! None of youse understand. You pretend like you do but you’ve never been in my position.’ He yelled as he walked away.

Shit, he was really pissed off. What had I done?
