TALIA’S P.O.V

“He did not have moobs. I mean seriously, that was muscle Talia, not moob.”

Oh my god, why did I say that? Why? Sophie had been going on and on about it, non-stop for about ten hours, she’d pause and change the topic once in a while but then she’d go back to Josh and my moobs comment.

“It was Josh! I wasn’t exactly going to stand there and admire his non-existent muscles, I mean ew!” I pulled a face and pulled out a pair of black wedges from my closet, “Found them!”

She sighed, “Okay, I get your point. Now can we please go back to Nate’s house? Your house is creepy when it’s all empty and dark.”

“Fine, okay, let’s go,” I stood up and shut the door to my closet. “What time is it?”

“Six,” Sophie said, glancing at her phone as we walked down the stairs. “but I’m guessing we’re gonna leave at the same time as Nate and Josh, since I didn’t bother bringing my car. So you should ask them what time we’re leaving.”

I stared at her. “You mean we’re going to the party... with them?”

“Well duh,” she opened the door and went out, me following behind her, “I texted Liam to ask if he was going but he didn’t reply either so I guess he’s out of the question.”

I sighed, locking the door. “I haven’t spoken to Liam in almost a month.”

Sophie’s eyebrows shot up, “You do realize that you’re dating him, right?”

“Try telling him that,” I muttered, stepping into the house, “I don’t get guys.”

Just as I opened the door to Nate’s house, Josh jumped in front of me and shouted, “BOO!”

Me and Sophie both let out simultaneously screams and I dropped one of my shoes, “You idiot!” I cried, picking up the shoe and throwing it at him.

Josh laughed and caught it, handing it back to me, “Sorry, just practicing my boo skills.”

He walked into the kitchen and I stared after him, before turning back to Sophie. “Like I said, I really don’t get guys.”

***************************

“Sit still,” Sophie hissed through gritted teeth, as she applied the mascara.

I huffed, “I don’t see why you won’t let me do it.”

“Because we are going to a party. You hear that? A party. Meaning that if you go there wearing all your crazy emo makeup, with your hair all messed up and that weird black necklace with the spiky things on it, you’re going to scare everybody.”

“By everybody, you mean Dylan’s friends. And by Dylan’s friends, you mean dumb jocks and overly preppy cheerleaders,” I muttered, a little hurt by her comment.

“Sweetie, do you know nothing about Dylan’s parties? Dylan is pretty much going to have the whole school there, cheerleaders, jocks, nerds, you name ‘em. And he’s not just going to have the whole high school there, he’s also going to have his brother’s college friends, which means Talia the emo panda, is not going to work."

“I’m not an emo panda!”

She snorted, “That’s what you think.”

“Okay, can you stop with the insults and just let me see what I look like?”

“Are you kidding me?” Sophie put the mascara back and picked up my flat iron, turning it on, “I only just finished your face, I still have to do something with your hair.”
