CHAPTER 2

“Can my day get any worse?” I asked in frustration, to no one in particular but apparently, yes it could.

I walked out of the main hall where the everyday attendance was to take place since as I mentioned earlier we won’t be having solid classrooms anymore. The day just started and my bad luck worked its magic already? The last thing I wanted to do was to get involved with the playboy of the school in any way possible yet once again life was cruel. This was the exact mess I landed into! Seriously, I didn’t even do anything and the guy went all I’m-going-to-get-revenge-on-you-for-something-you-did on me! What exactly were we going to see? Oh man, I was consumed by a monster called ‘worry’ on the first day of college!

And where the hell was Emma? She just ran off as soon as the attendance was done. “Where are you Emz?” I mumbled to myself, hoping she’d suddenly pop up from somewhere like one of those ‘whack the moles’.

While scanning through the crowd of students moving about to find their classes, I spotted a lean figure with dark brown hair. A huge smile graced my lips and I broke into a sprint for the tall brunette. I was only a few inches away when he side-stepped me causing me to apply my emergency brakes otherwise my face would have a date with the shiny marble floor. The slippery floor, however, straight out rejected meeting my desperate feet that touched them to gain some friction. Thankfully, I somehow managed to twist on my heel causing my rear to date the floor rather than my face. That’s what you get ya stupid floor, talk to my ass!

“Wiilll!!” I whined to the boy towering over me. My butt hurt like shit by the way!!

He chuckled and extended his arm out to pull me up. “You’re such a clutz Dyln!” He now wore a smile on his face.

“You idiot! You’re the reason I fell okay!” I laughed as well as I raised myself up with his help. After dusting off my back side I gave Will a bear hug that he returned equally as tight. “I haven’t seen you for like three months! How was the trip to Australia?”

“Hmm it was pretty good. I missed your chattering there!”

“Hehe, I missed your jerkiness here! And where were you during attendance eh? I couldn’t see you anywhere and neither did I see you at home.” We spoke all the while still in our hug but it just seems long. In reality it just lasted thirty seconds since I released him right when he said..

“I was sitting way at the back with Rhiley, I could see your sorry state from all the way where I sat. I also spent the night at his place after I came back from the airport so didn’t come home. Aaaagghh Dyln, I’m not an orange! Don’t squeeze me till my insides come out!”

We don’t live together, live together. Well we technically do, let me explain. My older sister and his older brother got married like a year or two after we became friends. Since we were already neighbours, our parents decided to merge the houses. Well only the living rooms were merged together making one big living room, which has two doors each leading to the different houses, so that the space created on top of the living room could be turned into a bedroom for the newly married couple. Other than that the two houses are separate apart from the fact that both families are always in each other’s side of the house.

“Oops sorry! I almost forget my own strength.” I winked at him, flexing the muscles on my right arm to show my tiny bicep bulge out. Bulge out? It was more like someone had placed a scoop of ice cream there. My muscle was soft and puny..…*sigh* the tragedies of life..

Will smiled and ruffled my hair playfully. “Wow! You’ve been working out haven’t you? He spoke as one speaks to a four year old.

Aaaahh yes, I’ve missed my best friend! Wait, wait let me get this straight. Emma is my best friend but this charming lad on my left, known as Will Conners ladies and gentlemen, is my best guy friend. And yes, Emma knows this and she doesn’t mind since she’s really good friends with him too. So no problems. :)

I heard someone clear their throat next to Will and I. I felt a little wave of embarrassment pass me as I realized that I had completely ignored Rhiley Stewart, Will’s best guy bud. Honestly, I didn’t know he was there, such was the excitement of meeting Will. I turned to the side a bit and smiled at him.
