Chapter 19: A Trip Down Memory Lane

My heartbeat quickened as I slowly made my way down the stairs.

In a worried motion I slipped on the step which echoed the noise of the bang. I groaned and quickly slapped my hands on my mouth as I heard someone's footsteps make their way in my direction.

I was breathing hard but thankfully the person couldn't hear me.

I couldn't see anything but a male figure and his black sneakers.

"You find what it was yet?" The man shouted.

"Probably nothing" Another man responded. I let my face fall in relief for a second realising they didn't suspect anything of it.

But what he said next made me cautious and on guard again.

"Nothing? Are you bloody stupid? It's never nothing." It was quiet for a minute before the same man spoke again I couldn't see any of them but judging from their voices they were all men around their early 20's maybe.

"Look around." I'm guessing he was in charge here.

Once I realised at least one of them would come up these stairs I quickly made my way back up and again my heartbeat simultaneously increased as I went up each step, but before I could open my door a hand smashed against it. I jumped back in fright but his other hand came up and behind me and grabbed a fistful of my hair.

I could hear my heart racing inside, beating almost out of my chest.

"Ah" He hissed. His face was covered in a ski mask so I couldn't tell who he was. His voice wasn't familiar either.

He dragged me down by my hair with me screaming, sobbing and trying with all my might to remove his hand from my hair.

He pushed me into the kitchen and grabbed something black from his bag that was lying on the floor near the sink. It was a black ski mask. I tried to take advantage of his distraction but before I could even take a step his hands came around my waist capturing me. He roughly pulled the mask down on my head, covering my face.

"There we go" I could see his mouth quirk up from behind the ski mask. His eyes had an evil glint in them and I knew he wouldn't let me go without some sort of damage.

The door opened and 4 guys made their way in. The door shut behind them and they all came closer trapping me between them.

"Lets have some fun" The boss spoke to the others.

One of the guys grabbed my wrists, fear and panic was rushing though me I desperately tried to stop them from tying my wrists with the rope I struggled but it was no use there was 1 of me and 5 of them. They pushed me down on the floor and tied my legs together. I lied there sobbing and begging them to let me go. One of the guys left and returned with a sliver object I could see it glistening in the light as he came closer I realised it was a knife.

My breathing quickened and I struggled against the ropes. I opened my mouth and let out a high-pitched scream but a gloved hand came descending on my mouth. He pulled the hand with the knife up and swiftly pulled it back down.

I woke up to realise I was screaming the words help me and my body was full of sweat. I ran my hands through my hair and down my face. It was another night terror. I looked beside me to see it was 3:00am. I tried to slow my breathing down once I was calm my phone rang.

"Who would call me at this time?" I muttered as I answered it.

"Anastasia?" It was Hunter. I laid back on my bed in relief. I'm glad he called.
