Chapter Six

Chapter 6:

I walk into the apartment around midnight finally home, Mandy my babysitter walks up cheerful. “Hey, Ms. Sterling you did great tonight on Raw it seemed so real tell Nick I said he is a great actor it really looked like he didn’t know Angel existed.” She smiles grabbing her bag to head out,

“Thanks, Mandy and will do…” I give a weak smile pulling out my wallet giving her usual pay, “Do you need a ride tonight or do you have one?” I add as she reaches for the door.

“Nope, Toby is outside right now waiting for me.” I nod and she smiles again, “Night, Ms. Sterling.”

“Night.” I watch her leave locking the door behind her and heading into Angel’s room, I didn’t even bother asking how she was Angel is just that and Angel never causes problems. Her head rested on her pillow she was absolutely beautiful while she slept, I run my fingers through her hair before leaning down to kiss her forehead. The phone rings in the other room and I quickly rush to get it so she doesn’t wake up,

“Hello?” I ask making sure to go into the hall and close Angel’s door.

“Tor, I hope you don’t mind I asked Ashley for your number…” Nick’s voice rings through, my heart starts to race as I try to figure out who I’m getting tonight Dolph or Nick.

“What do you want?” I sigh going into my room and falling back on to my soft fluffy bed,

“I want to meet our daughter…Ash says she is gorgeous and you named her Angel.”

“She looks just like you, and yeah it’s Angel Kaye Nemeth…” I crawl under the blankets and lie there wanting him to talk with me until I fall asleep like he used to.

“You gave her my last name…” I could hear a smile in his words and I return it,

“Of course, she is yours after all!” He chuckles lightly sounds like out of nervousness.

“So can I meet her?” he asks in a shaky voice, I stare at the ceiling wondering what would be best for Angel.

“Do you promise to stay in her life no matter what?”

“I promise, can you send me a picture of her right now?” he asks his voice getting excited,

“I’ll send it right now, wanna spend the day with her tomorrow?”

“Yeah, um I had plans with Nikki but I’ll tell her something came up. Send it and I’ll call you back once I get it, bye.” I hang up going through the pictures I find the one that shows off best that she looks like him and hit send saying your twin under the picture. The phone rings after a few minutes,

“She is so beautiful! You say she looks like me but I think she looks a million times better!” he squeals like an excited school girl, and that’s when I knew I had Nick right now not Dolph.

“She is something…I’m exhausted, see you tomorrow? I’ll text the address when I wake up come anytime her bed time is 8pm so keep that in mind. Bye, Nick.” I smile,

“Yeah, I’ll be there the moment I can. Will do, so back to calling me Nick over Dolph?” he laughs with a grin, I smirk back.

“As long as you act like Nick I will call you that but when you’re an ass it will be Dolph, so bring Nick tomorrow not Dolph. Bye, dork.” I laugh

“You got my word, bye.” He laughs before I hang up and I fall asleep in my clothes not feeling like getting up to change. My thoughts on Nick I lie there imagining how tomorrow will go, before fading off into a peaceful sleep.

Things were fast-forwarding so quickly I stood there not able to move as the images flash before me one on the ground below me, one on the wall on the right, one on the left, one right in front of me and even one on the ceiling. All images of Nick, Angel and I being a family a wedding, Christmas, bringing in a new baby but all the memories seem to be connected to the one on the ceiling Nick showing up tomorrow. I was so excited it was like a sign that everything was going to turn out great, I explore the dreams further when it finally allows me to move jumping in each movie type wall. I was in the middle of watching Angel open her future Christmas presents Nick smiling from ear to ear as she runs around excited about what she got a beeping started ringing in my ear. Nick turns to me with that soft smile of his “Babe it’s time to get, wake up…” he whispers in a low voice,

I shoot out of bed landing face first into the carpeted floor of my room, “Ow…” I groan as I climb off the floor. My eyes land on my phone and my heart jerks with excitement, I can’t wait for Angel to here she is meeting her dad today, I grab the phone and text the address. I wait a few minutes, I was honestly expecting a reply right away but I’m sure it’s nothing. I get to wake Angel up and tell her the good news!

Angel and I were sitting on the couch watching TV she kept looking up at the clock then back at me with her big brown eyes full of worry, 7:30pm already, no call or anything from Nick explaining why he hasn’t shown up yet. Psych ended meaning it was now 8pm, the credits run and her face goes pale as her bottom lip quivers. “Angel its bed time…” I whisper in a low voice, knowing it was going to break her heart.

“No, daddy hasn’t come yet…” tears bead in her eyes, I reach out for her and she pulls away running into the dining room and opening the door with pictures immediately she grabs the pick of Nick and I as teenagers on our way to prom.

“Angel I know you are sad but its bed time.” I try to say stern but looking at the tears roll down her cheeks as she touches Nick’s face in the picture makes it so hard. “You can bring the picture with you for tonight, okay?” she looks up at me and the tears really start to pour, I scoop her up in my arms.

“Why doesn’t daddy want to meet me?” she cries into the crease of my neck and my heart breaks, I never want to see her this sad ever again.

“Daddy got busy but we will figure something out…tomorrow will be a special day just for the two of us.” I try to say cheerful but with her sobs right in my ear it was nearly impossible. I lie her down in bed wiping her tears, she hugs the picture while I try to sing her to sleep but even when she finally closed her eyes she still let out a sob every now in then.
