CHAPTER 17: CAN I TURN YOU INTO A PILLOW?

Chase went back to the council room and came up with an excuse that explained why I kidnapped him in the middle of an important presentation. I didn’t ask what he told them, certain that they’d believe whatever reason that would come out from his mouth. That’s the kind of person he was. Trustworthy and Reliable.

Rielle was the only person who didn’t believe Chase though. That’s expected. She knew something was absolutely wrong the moment I grabbed Chase’s arm. And now she’s giving us the third degree. Everyone went home after the said meeting. Well, everyone except me, Chase and Rielle who was standing in front of us with her hands both placed on her hips.

“I’m waiting, Sacred. Don’t make me ask questions,” she said with an authoritative tone. Chase and I didn’t say a single word. How could you explain to a third person that you basically kissed your sister’s boyfriend after he confessed his feelings of love for you without sounding like you’re a completely bad person?

“Okay, since none of you wants to spill, we’ll do this my way,” she announced “How long did your kisses last? Half an hour? Forty minutes?”

Chase and I exchanged shocked glances, eyes widening. This girl had been watching too much episodes of Sherlock. “Excuse me?” I asked, trying to look innocent.

“Oh please Sac, cut it out. You’re lips are practically red and you smell like a man’s perfume was poured inside your shirt,” she said casually like what she said was common knowledge. My mouth hung open and Chase coughed nervously beside me.

“Do you guys want me to continue or maybe you finally decide to fill me in with the details?” she asked, knowing fully well that she already won.

“Okay,” I answered. “I’ll tell you everything. Chase and I are—”

“I love your friend,” Chase said, interrupting my revelation. I hugged him mentally. He never ceased to amaze me, still surprising me even when I had anticipated his actions. Rielle covered her opened mouth with the back of her hand. She looked at me, then at Chase, then back at me.

“Are you saying this,” her hands pointed at us. “is actually a real thing? And not just a short fling between hormonal teenagers?”

I rolled my eyes at her choice of words. “Rielle, please don’t make this sound like a disgusting relationship. I think you’ve been reading too much romance novels. It’s not very healthy.”

Now it’s her turn to roll her eyes. “Don’t blame my precious books Sac. If you don’t notice yet, your current situation is like a torn chapter from one of my books.”

“I know. Trust me,” I replied.

“I hate to ask this but I just want to make sure,” she said. “Do you love him too?”

It was one thing to admit your feelings to the person you love. When any other one person asked you to have a repeat performance, it’s pretty normal to hesitate and take a moment to feel slightly embarrassed. Chase felt my uneasiness so he squeezed my hand and I returned the favor, an evidence enough that the feelings were mutual. I turned back to Rielle with much more confidence. “Yeah. I do. I really do.”

“I’ll say I’m happy for you but I know how complicated this thing was. There are possible repercussions in this kind of relationship, right?” she asked.

Chase and I looked at each other.

"What is your plan Chase?" she asked. "Are you going to break up with her sister?"
