Chapter Five – Trials and Tribulations of a Finalist

Around 2:45 the dance instructor dismissed everyone.  Amee quickly collected her things and walked outside to call Richie to pick her up.

“Bye Amee,” called Natalia from behind her. Amee turned around hugged her and Mikey and said, “It was really nice meeting you today.”  Natalia walked into the parking lot towards a red Porche with Mikey following closely behind her.

“Looks like someone’s daddy makes bank,” Amee turned back to see a familiar face.

“Rey,” Amee squealed as she hugged her, Reyna hugged back tightly. “What are you doing here?” Amee asked.

“Dragonwart had a heart attack and died, so they decided to cancel classes seeing as it would be in bad taste to replace him already,” Reyna said in a matter of fact way.

“Oh my god, that is so horrible.  He was such a good professor,” Amee said sadly.  ‘He was a mean teacher, but that doesn’t mean he was a bad teacher.’ Amee thought.

“I would reciprocate the feelings except, I lied” Reyna said and laughed at Amee’s expression.

“Reyna Kendall Henderson! You do not joke about someone dying,” Amee said feeling angry and relieved at the same time.

“You… should… have…seen…your…face!” Reyna said while laughing in between each word she said.

“What are you really doing here? Don’t you have an exam today and tomorrow?” Amee said clearly not amused.

“Yes well, my professor moved our test dates to next week. The entire class said that they weren’t prepared,” Reyna replied as they both started walking towards Reyna’s car.

“Hey, wait Richie said that he would come pick me up at three today,” Amee said as she put her stuff down and looked around the lot that was nearly empty.

“Oh I know, I called him earlier to let him know that I would come pick you up, I missed my sista’ from another mista’” Reyna said as she got into her car and put on her what seemed to be brand new Michel Kors Shades.

“Oh well then, you hungry?” Amee asked as her stomach growled.

“I am always hungry, darling,” Reyna said with a laugh and continued, “and I heard that your aunt’s chef was sick, so Richie stepped in and made some great food for lunch today just for you.”

“Babe there are many words for lunch today, and good isn’t one of them,” Amee said remembering her burnt sandwich.

“Sarcasm, Amee sarcasm, how about I take you to my lovers favorite place to eat,” Reyna said with a smile.

“Nandos! Yes please,” Amee squealed.

“Alright lets go,” Reyna said with a smile and continued, “Hey, do you have any idea what Richie is doing right now?”

Amee raised an eyebrow and turned to face her and teased, “Well he should be done with classes by now, why? Would you like him to join us?”

“Yes, but it’s not what you think it is Amee,” Reyna tried to convince Amee very unconvincingly.

“Uh huh, and what was I thinking,” Amee teased again, now trying to hold back her laughter.

“You were thinking, that I have a thing for your cousin, and I don’t,” Reyna said sternly but still unconvincingly.

“Well, should I call him to hang out or not?” Amee said and without waiting for an answer dialed his number anyway.

“Well he is a really nice guy, and I loved hanging out with him that night at your aunt’s house, so yes I would like to hang out with Richie.” Reyna said without realizing that Amee had held her phone next to her as she said it.
