Chapter 7 1/2

It was Thursday, 4 days after Milo was killed. Ash was getting in the mode of things with school and how it ran. He and Dayla had 5 out of 8 periods together, including lunch. Walking through the halls on her way to 9th period, where she'd meet Ash for Chemistry Dayla looked around. She felt strange, usually she'd pass Milo at that moment but, of course, she didn't see his face. The school was all quite. People who were good friends with him were at his funeral so there were some people missing classes. She walked into Chemistry and saw Ash sitting at his desk next to hers.

She sat down next to him," I thought it would get better by now."

He shook his head," I can't believe this is happening." He was really saying it to himself, not realizing he said it out loud.

"No school tomorrow. Do you wanna hang out? My dad's not home for the weekend so I'm having that party."

"Yea that'd be great," he said with a smile," but I still need to come over later. You know, 'science notes'."

Dayla laughed out loud," okay but remember, Elly's probably spending the night tonight again."

"Figured," he said as he was pulling out his homework.

"Okay class let's get our homework out!" the teacher yelled.

Class was over and Dayla was heading to her car. Ash ran up behind her and grabbed her around the waist. She yelped as he picked her up and swung her in a circle.

"I'll see you at 8," he said and ran to his motorcycle, the vehicle of the day. He always had a different one. Yesterday it was a black Acura. None of them were entirely expensive but were still really nice. She was sure he should have been able to afford a more expensive car if he wanted to. He walked up to her cute red Volvo. She needed a new car bad but she was happy to have one. The car didn't have any air-conditioning, the radio was broken, the door sometimes didn't shut because of the huge dent on the side and her odometer sometimes didn't work correctly. She stuck her key in the door and turned it to get in. She was going to take a quick trip to the grocery store before she got home.

Coming out of the grocery store she carried 3 bags of food for the weekend, some for the party tomorrow. She threw them in the back seat and locked her door.

Remembering the new hairspray she wanted to get she made her way to the salon which was across the street and down the road.

She began her decent, humming a Train song on her way. Looking at her watch it was 7:00, so it was already dark. She wasn't usually scared of the dark but tonight it seemed a little eerie. She could see the fluorescent lights up ahead but they were still a bit aways.

I should have driven, she thought to herself. She kicked a rock down the street and all of a sudden she heard a low growl come from the bush right next to her. Her pulse started rushing and she tried to steady her breathing. Trying to convince herself she didn't hear anything she kept walking, only a little faster. She heard the growl again and came to a complete stop. Looking closely she could barely make out two glowing eyes from the dark bushes. As soon as she did she broke to a full out sprint pulling out her phone and calling Elly.

"Come on come on pick up!" she heard it ringing. She could barely make out the patter of paws a ways behind her.

"Hey da-"

"Elly! Elly! Oh my gosh help me! I'm being chased right now by some animal and I'm running toward Queen Hair. Just call the police or someone!"

"Day calm down!"

"I can't I'm sprinting for my life!" She looked behind her and saw a huge wolf with yellow eyes, gums baring and gaining on her fast. She let out a bloody murder scream.

"Day calm down!" Elly yelled, this was the weirdest call she's had yet today (and she's had a few).

"I can't I'm sprinting for my life!" She heard Dayla on the other line. Elly started running to the driveway of her house but barely made it to her car when she heard an earsplitting scream from Dayla.

"Dayla! It's okay I'm getting Ash, were coming!"

"HURRY! HE'S AT MY HEELS!" Dayla was hysterical now. You could hear her hyperventilating and crying.

"It's okay were coming just stay on the line!"

Another scream mixed with crying. Elly stole her mom's car and pushed on the gas pedal, going way over the speed limit down the road of her neighborhood.

"Day you still there?"

"YES! Yes IM STILL HERE!"

"Ok I'm almost to Ash's!" she yelled in the phone. But was slightly cut off by the most heartbreaking scream she's ever heard. She heard low vicious growling that terrified her. A large bang and more screams were sounded and then the line went dead.
