Arcanine was originally supposed to be part of the Legendary Trio, instead of Moltres. However, the developers thought that a trio consisting of two birds and a lion-tiger-type-thing would be too confusing for gamers. Thus, Moltres was created and Arcanine was signed off as a Non-Legendary.
