On April Twenty Seven
There’s a spot on earth, the place of my birth
Where hearts are filled with believing
T’was a gloomy day just before May
On April Twenty Seven
The winds grew foul and began to howl
That morning before eleven
Lightning cracked and skies turned black
On April Twenty Seven
By that afternoon it reeked of doom
As the skies unleashed Armageddon
Rage unknown sprang deadly cyclones
On April Twenty Seven
Unleashing Hell with the devil’s tail
Spinning, twisting, and weaving
Spewing its wrath along its path
On April Twenty Seven
When it was past, people moved fast
Thoughts of neighbors already conceiving
No worry for self, just plans to help
On April Twenty Seven
With a hero’s might they strived all night
Their hearts and lungs a heaving
A simple goal to find every soul
On April Twenty Seven
Some lives were taken but not forsaken
Residing now with God in Heaven
They remain part of our living heart
On April Twenty Seven
Good people proved that mountains can move
If your courage is not deceiving
The devil shouts but faith won out
On April Twenty Seven
