The sun is setting and I know it’s almost time to go inside. Oliver decided to take the rest of the day off to spend time with me outside. We don’t talk very much; I lie down in the field and let the sun soak into my pores.
“I’m glad you’re taking the Scott thing so well...” Oliver has finished on the phone and is sitting down beside me now.
“Well, to be honest, our last conversation was a fight, so I understand why he would do what he did. Doesn’t make what he did right, but nonetheless I forgive him.” Looking at Oliver, I see he has picked a bouquet of fresh wildflowers for me… how sweet, and sickening at the same time. “Are those for me?”
“Uh…ya...” He hands me the flowers, and taking a sniff, I smile knowing I can have this small piece of life in the bedroom that weighs my spirits down. “How can you possibly forgive him? He was doing this before your stupid little fight you know. He has been cheating on you for months!” Oliver is upset, and he clearly doesn’t want me to forgive Scott.
“Oliver, I don’t believe that’s true. It doesn’t matter anyways; let’s just not talk about it.” This man will say anything to turn me against Scott, but when we got married, it was for better or for worse. When I’m out of here, we will work things out. I look at Oliver sideways, and he is clenching his jaw.
“Fine. We should get back to the house.” Oliver stands up and starts walking towards the house. Cue angry music as psycho walks away. Sighing, I run to catch up to Oliver, and as I reach him, I hear him talking to Mac.
“Put B into action.” Oliver is telling Mac.
“B? But I thought…” Mac glances at me with a confused look on his face.
“Just do it. Or should I ask Chris to?” Oliver is gritting his teeth.
“No no! I’ll do it,” Mac looks at me and smile spreads across his twisted face, “with pleasure.” Oliver grabs my hand and we start towards the house.
“Oh and Mac?” He turns to look at Mac before continuing, “No funny business, save it for the right time.” Oliver is giving Mac a stern look.
“Yes Oliver.” His smile falters a little, but I feel like he has been waiting for this command and looking forward to it. So what is B? Plan B? That must be it.
“What’s plan B Oliver?” I ask him, pulling on his hand so he stops. He turns to look at me, and is smiling pleasantly. Reaching up, he tucks a stray piece of hair behind my ear.
“In due time, you will find out love.” He bends over and plants a kiss on my lips, mine refusing to answer his. “You know, my patience will only last so long...” I know he is referring to me kissing him back but I can’t do it. The thought of giving him what he wants is revolting, because I know it won’t stop at kissing. I know he will want more from me.
Walking inside is like going back to reality. Being outside for me is all roses and fairytales, and in the fairytales I am a strong, brave woman who escapes her captor’s, guns a blazing. Coming inside I hit reality, and I know there is no way I can just magically turn into a ninja and kick serious ass.
“Where is Mac going?” Adam looks concerned for his whereabouts. Oliver’s face darkens and a sinister smile plays across his lips.
“He is initiating plan B.” Adam goes pale and looks at me, eyes wide. I raise an eyebrow at him; obviously he holds a lot of valuable information.
“It looked like things were going well.” Adams breathing has picked up and he looks at Oliver angrily.
“Well, they were. Then Madison decided to be a saint and show forgiveness towards the wrong person.” Have I turned invisible? They are talking about me like I am not even here!
“If you’re going to talk right in front of me, at least fill me in to what the hell plan B is.” I am starting to worry, but I can’t even imagine what his next plan could be. Both their eyes snap to me at once and before I see it coming, Oliver’s hand flies across my face with such force it sends me to the ground, landing hard on my back.
