I screamed and pushed the weak vampire off of my body. I stood up weakly holding my bleeding neck and ran into the castle. I ran up the flight of stairs and came into a room with a mirror on the wall. I ran over to the mirror and stared into it, hoping to see what was changing. I was turning pale. Very pale. I started to panic. My neck stopped bleeding so I removed my hand. Two little holes sat in my neck, then faded away. I stared closely. A tattoo of some sort was being carved into my neck with black ink and a small, sharp point.
An expiration date.
It was pain like no other. It was like a knife was digging into my neck and carving symbols, leaving scars. I started screaming and crying as I fell to my knees. I finally got the strength to get up and walk outside, but fell to my knees in the rain. I screamed and looked up at the sky, my black eye liner running down my numb cheeks. I looked at the body of the vampire I had hurt. From this distance, I couldn't tell who it was. My vision started going blurry.
Then the thought of Duke being raised by elves came to my head. But that could wait. I transformed into my wolf form, which was very painful at this point. I howled and ran, the whole pack following me back to out territory. The vampires didn't even bother to follow. I knew it was part of their plan, and I was afraid it might actually be going their direction. I fell over when I reached the opening and transformed into a human. Then, black out.
I saw my daughter fall over in her precious human form, and it made me feel week. I couldn't stand seeing this. I looked around the opening, at every wolf, searching. No Kade, no Gabe, no Duke. I started to panic. I was scared that they were gone.... If they were gone forever, what would Kayla and I do? Besides, I saw Duke fighting-
Suddenly I saw a small, almost glowing figure standing outside of the opening. I padded over and saw her, a small eight year old elf. I knew her. Bailey. Just Bailey, no middle or last name. Elves are all in the same family, with no last names. I smiled at her.
"Hello, Bailey. Come warm up." I ushered her into my den, heated up some coals and placed them next to her. I transformed into a human and gave her a warm glass of milk I had gotten from a message owl who had traveled into the forbidden human world. I gave her some mint and sat beside her.
"So-" I began.
"Mom?" I looked over and saw Kayla wobbling on her legs. She looked different. Her skin had turned pale and she had two small fangs.
"You are a-a-" I stammered. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
"Vampire." She stared at the ground then up again. "Where is Duke?"
"I haven't seen him." I paused. Where was he?
"Oh." She sat down next to Bailey and I and drank some milk. She looked at me. "What is this talk about Duke being raised by elves?"
I stared at her for a second. And started to tell the story.
I walked slowly away from Skye, hoping she wouldn't notice me sneaking away. Of course, a teenage wolf like her was way too busy with her friends to pay any attention. My father walked up to me in his human form. He looked very different. Pale skin, two small fangs, and red eyes. I gasped as he smiled wickedly and snatched me up, running off with me and taking me to a opening.
My dad set me down. My mother smiled at me. They told me about vampires and owning this territory. I listened, but was filled with fear. After all, these were vampires we were talking about. Sooner than I knew it, My dad bit me.
He bit me.
14 YEARS LATER
It was my nineteenth birthday. I had found a beautiful wolf mate. Her name was Esther. She had a baby, but I had to keep it a secret. So I took Esther and the baby to the elves, who accepted and decided to raise him. Esther and I visited alot, and soon, a baby elf was brought along. Her name was Bailey, and Duke always thought of her as a sister. I smiled upon that.
Esther and I made our way back home when my dad greeted us. He had become very evil. He murdered Esther on the spot and threatened to kill me if I tried to run away. I looked to the entrance and saw a young rogue wolf being attacked by our vampires. I just obediently walked into my room, dragging what was left of Esther behind me.
