Chapter Thirty Four

“Are you nervous?” questioned Emile, a girl in my class.

“Yes and no. I hate that I have to waddle up there.” I muttered.

Emile chuckled and turned back around.

I was currently standing in line to get my high school diploma, I was nervous as I was six months pregnant, huge and I waddled.

It was my high school graduation, my last official day at high school.

After this Elliot and I could go public, I was really happy about that more than getting my diploma.

“Arianne Celeste.” I was pulled out of my daydream as my principle called my name.

I took a deep breath and climbed the stepped, I waddled over to him and we shook hands and he handed me my diploma.

“Well done Ari.” He said grinning like a mad man and a glint in his eye.

I narrowed my eyes slightly but returned the grin.

As soon as I got down the steps I walked quickly to my seat and hid from all the judging eyes.

I didn't care what people thought of me, I was eighteen and pregnant and everyone thought I was going to be a single mom.

A round of applause erupted and I jumped.

“I need to stop daydreaming.”

I listened to the speeches from some students and teachers.

The principle came up to the podium again.

“There is one more person who would like make a speech, so if everybody would welcome on stage Mr Elliot Gold.”

What? He never told me he was doing a speech.

I sat up straight and listened intently.

“Hello class of 2012, I am honoured that I had the pleasure of teaching you for my first year of teaching. There is a specific reason why I am up here and that is to tell you that I am in love. I am in love and she is sitting in this audience and I would like her to join me up here... Ari?” he looked towards me as did everyone else; I turned bright red and slowly walked towards him, ignoring all the whispers.

Elliot waited until I was up the stage and standing next to him, I grabbed his hand and squeezed it, hard.

“The truth is throughout the whole school year we have been having a secret relationship.”

There were gasps and laughs as if we were joking. I moved more behind Elliot more.

Why didn't he tell me he was going to do this?

“Yes, Ari is carrying my children. Yes, we knew it was wrong and we shouldn’t have done it but we are in love and I couldn’t stop myself.”

He turned towards my ignoring all the shocked, disgusted and jealous faces.

“Arianne Louise Celeste, I remember the first time you said you loved me, I will remember it for the rest of my life. I love you; I love you because you bring out a side of me I never knew existed. You make me better person, my friends and family have told me that I have changed completely in a good way and recently I have begun to see it myself. Everything is different since I have been with you, food and drink tastes different. I hear and feel music in a different way. When we are not together, you are always on my mind. I miss you when you are not around, it’s like you are with me when you’re not around as you are on my mind all the time. Being loved by you and that is the best feeling ever. I think about my goals and future more than ever and every single one has you involved. I will never hurt you; I will always love and cherish you for as long as I shall live. I know it is going to be hard, I know that we will have our ups and downs especially with our monkeys coming along, but I am confident that you are my soul mate and that you will always be the love of my life. Since the first time I laid eyes on you and until my last death breath my heart will always beat for you. First name, last name... Will you be my wife?”
