Learn to Love

I leaned over the toilet and sprayed the cleanser in, so much that I had to back away and cover my mouth. When the fumes subsided I scrubbed like a mad woman. In case you haven't noticed I cleaned when I was sad, or nervous. Right now it was sad, sad beyond belief.

"Lanette, sweetheart, you need to lie down," Lance begged, looking in the bathroom with a pained expression.

"You try laying down when your last family member is dying! Freaking dying! Do you know what that feels like?!" I shouted, turning my sadness into anger and lashing out at him.

His expression went stoic and he spoke coldly, "I may not know what that feels like, but I know what it feels  like when the love of your life keeps taking a hammer to your heart."

"Lance I'm sorry!" I whisper yelled, immediately feeling guilty. Just because my mother was in the hospital because she is in a coma. That's right the cancer was faster than normal and she had been in a coma for a week. I admit I had been yelling at Lance a lot. The guilt was eating me alive.

"Forget it," Lance replied sounding so torn and lost. My heart lurched.

"Lance, I feel so guilty, but you can't blame-" I began.

"Enough, no more excuses, you just need time to cool down," with that the love of my life ran down the stairs. Crap, what have I done. Just when I thought things were picking back up.

Racing after him I ran outside, he was no where to be found. "Lance!" I called.

Stepping out of the shadows, stood someone I thought I'd never see again.

"Hello again Lanette, long time no see?"

"What the-"

A sharp pain stung my head, I groaned in pain.

"Nice work, she should stay out a while."

"Yup, sweet dreams, baby doll."

Evil laughter followed, and my eyes reluctantly closed. They would pay, just after I got some sleep....
