I desperately looked for my camera. There was a big mess all around my small house so I couldn’t find anything. Yes I admit it, I am pretty good at being messy but Emma, my roommate, hated that. She and I have moved to London a few months ago. We wanted to go to college together since middle school. Since then we have always been best friends or more of like sisters. “Oh! Here it is!” I said pulling my Canon camera from under my bed blankets. “You should learn how to be more organized” Emma said clipping her hair back. “Yeah, and I’ve got to run .”
Yes I forgot to mention that I dropped out of college a few months ago. I just think that Arquitecture is not quite something I like. I’m still that little girl from middle school who never knew what her life would be about. I know I should already know that, but I don’t. Yeah, quite scary isn’t it? Any ways about that… I’ll figure it out. Mean while I work at a bakery, It helps with the rent and everything else. I guess I have time now to figure out who I am, time to actually meet myself.
I have started a photography class because I do enjoy it. Every single moments of taking pictures is beautiful. It’s amazing how a simple machine can capture the beauty we see, It’s like a recreation of what God calls “eyes”. It’s pretty magical.
“I’m sorry I’m late Mrs. Black, I just couldn’t find my camera” I said embarrassed. “It’s okay” She said. She hated when people came in late but I was her favorite so she didn’t care. I quickly sat on my chair and noticed tons of new people. There was a girl with a big white-dotted bow on her head. She looked weird, but I am not the kind of people that judge others. See, you can’t judge a book’s cover before you even read the inside. There was another girl with big sunglasses on, they made her look really cute. In the back there was a boy covered with a hoodie, wearing black sunglasses. He looked like he was trying to hide from others.
“So today we are going to make a trip to the park. You will all take pictures of whatever you want and save them. Your homework will be to make a PowerPoint out of the favorites you took. And don’t worry you won’t have to display it just send it to my email.” Mrs. Black said. “Now common, let’s go” She continued. I loved her strong British accent. I wish I could have been born here in England and have such gorgeous accent like hers.
On the bus I sat alone waiting for someone to sit next to me, but apparently no one did. I always used to sit alone, I am used to being alone. The bus door closed right after the guy who looked like he was trying to hide from someone came in. He slowly walked towards me and decided to sit next to me. He acted really weird. He seemed to be ignoring me. He lightly pulled his long sleeves down and fixed his sunglasses.
“So are you new?” I asked. He looked at me, I couldn’t see his eyes because of the dark glasses.
“Yeah” he whispered.
“Do you enjoy it? Photography?” I asked.
“Yeah, I do” He whispered again.
“Are you hiding from someone?”
“It’s complicated” He whispered. I was getting scared now. Who was he? He took off his sunglasses and took down the hoodie realizing his long, light-brown curly hair. The sun reflected his perfect green eyes making them look almost shinny.
“I’m Harold by the way. And you are?” He said. This time he didn’t whisper. His voice was enchanting. Rough and deep. This made me nervous. I had butterflies all over my body now.
“I am, I am.” I said dumbed, almost forgetting my name. “Um, I am Emily, Emily flint” I said as we shacked hands.
“Okay guys, so feel free to come down and we will meet here again in about 30 minutes.” Mrs. Black said.
I gave him a shy smile expecting for him to return it, he didn’t. Instead, as the other classmates stood up he quickly put the glasses on and walked away. I was still there, on the bus chair. Before he walked down the bus he looked back at me and returned the shy smile. “Wow” I whispered to myself a few seconds after.
