Chapter Forty-Five
-Oh, My Sweet, Sweet, Weird Little Sweetie-

There was also a lunch rush at the gym, Toby must have been a gazillionaire, because people just did not stop coming in to sweat on purpose. After I had taken my breakfast break this morning, the lunch rush began. These people needed to find a hobby that didn't include smelling and being sticky with sweat.
"You're frowning at everyone again," Toby commented, walking behind the counter.
"Masses of people are exercising again," I replied, trying to set my face into a neutral expression. "Why? They just finished this morning. Do they have nothing better to do?" I asked and Toby laughed.
"Why do you even work in a gym?" he replied with his own question.
"Desperation," I grinned and he shook his head. "Why do you let me work here?"
"Desperation," He laughed at me. "Spin starts in ten minutes and then the lunch rush should lull if you want a lunch break before I go?" Toby asked and I nodded. Perfect timing for what I had planned.

After Toby had left to instruct the class, Kathy came waltzing in, like she owned the place.
"Hey," she grinned, jumping up to sit on the counter.
"Really?" I asked, giving her a disapproving look before laughing.
"You're short staffed, your boss is too busy to bust me," She smirked. "Jake told me about this morning."
"Oh my god," I groaned, letting my head fall into my hands and shaking it. "He was here before I even got here," I laughed.
"Tell me every single moment in minute detail," she grinned, eyes sparkling. Conceding, I rehashed the story to her without leaving anything out.
"...and then he slammed the door on the way out," I finished.
"So he was pissed?" She asked excitedly, and I nodded.
"He came back to find Toby this morning," I told her and she clapped like a train seal and then stopped abruptly.
"You tell me Toby let him work out this morning and I'm going to bitch-fit," She informed me, I shook my head with a grin and her smirk was pure evil. "Amazing," She breathed. "I saw him this morning, getting coffee, he was so worked up. It was brilliant, and then Jake told me you stopped his gym this morning and I've never been so excited without being undressed."
"You're enjoying this too much," I snorted. "You're bordering on 'I-don't-want-to-know-that'," I laughed.
"The group really responded well to both Taylor diving on Declan and you giving him an earful last night." I shot her an amused look. "Their latest poll is whether Taylor or Declan are hotter," She informed me.
"Who's leading?"
"Taylor, but only just," Kathy laughed. "Someone also demanded to know if Taylor followed you, because apparently he left straight after us. They started a poll like five minutes ago on whether they want you guys to get back together yet. I think they're enjoying the drama."
"I literally feel like I'm on Gossip Girl," I murmured and Kathy nodded.
"They collectively think he still cares too and that you can't make it easy for him to crawl back," Kathy told me and I laughed.
"Oh, I'm not," I grinned. "I have plans." Looking intrigued, she grinned.
"Oh. So, what now?" she asked and I grinned at her.
"Basketball," I replied simply.

Taylor had half an hour until his next class as I walked out of the gym for my break, I knew this because it was a class we shared. I also knew he wouldn't bother squeezing in a half hour workout while I was on my break. The most important thing I knew was that Taylor would be using basketball as his workout today, because it was his second favourite way to sweat after weight training. Strolling onto the basketball court, I found Kathy and sat next to her.
"He's so jacked up, oh my god," She told me. "He's completely dominating everyone."
"I'm assuming that is pissing Robbo off?" I asked and she laughed.
"You know it," she grinned. "You still going to play?"
"Yup," I replied, standing up and giving her my bag and jumper.

Walking onto the court, Robbo grinned at me and pointed to himself, non-verbally asking me if I wanted to play on his team, I nodded and smirked.
"Walters is playing. I call dibs," Robbo announced and Taylor stopped as he started to line up a shot to turn around and glare at me.
"She's not playing," He looked at Robbo and growled.
"Yeah she is," Robbo shot back, looking smug. "Thanks to you assholes not speaking up during Jessica's woman movement's moment, girls apparently can do whatever they want. Walters is in, and I want her."
"I'm on Robbo's team then, I suppose," I tried to smile as sweetly and infuriatingly as possible. I think it worked; steam basically came out of Taylor's ears.
"Why are you doing this?" He demanded, I could almost see the energy rippling off him. Kathy was right, he was wound up tighter than a cat in a dog enclosure.
"What can I say, I'm feeling inspired from being in the gym all day," I shrugged, crossing my arms defiantly. I glanced around and Kathy was grinning at me. I then realise I could figure out exactly who was in the Facebook group because seemingly random girls in the crowd were grinning at us too.
"The problem is, you're not actually any good," Taylor smirked. "No one actually wants you to play." I rolled my eyes at him and gestured at Jake to throw me the ball. Hoping against all hope I pulled this off, I took a step forward, lined up my shot and threw the ball with everything I had. When it effortlessly swooped into the hoops string, I laughed.
"Looky there," I glanced back at Taylor feeling smug. "I do believe I'm standing at the half way line, so that's what? Five points?" I asked, purposely playing stupid. "I'm playing on Robbo's team. Eat my dick, asshole. Maybe it's you no one wants around," I glared at him as I walked around him and towards Robbo, who was grinning at me like I was Mariah Carey naked coming at him.
"That was fucking magnificent," he breathed. "Oh my god, he's so angry right now. This is brilliant. Thank. You. So. Much." He punctuated his words and I smirked at him, looking at him sideways.
"It was mostly for me, but you're welcome," I cracked and gave him a grin.

Taylor was completely off his game. Too worried about glaring at me to pay attention to the ball and whose hands it was currently in. The tables had officially turned. I was so far under his skin; I could basically see his kidneys. As I sunk a shot, Robbo high fived me and I spun around as Taylor started slow clapping.
"Congratulations, but you fouled. No points," He smirked at me.
"What?" Robbo demanded as I rolled my eyes.
"What is it that I did?" I asked
"You travelled," He snapped at me.
"Seriously, Cadley?" Robbo demanded. "You're calling her out on travelling?"
"Can't follow the rules, can't get the points," He stated simply, acting smug.
"Yeah, well," Robbo countered. "You're an asshole," He stammered for something good to say.
"I can second that," I muttered and Taylor glared at me.
"Got something to say?" He asked me and I grinned at him.
"Only if you do first, buttercup," I replied and I knew I had surprised him because his eyes widened just slightly before he glared at me for a long silent minute.
"Are you done pretending you can play?" He asked and I shook my head, smirking.
"Nope."
"Good, because I am," Taylor muttered and turned on his heel and walked away.
"Maybe I'll see you tomorrow morning," I called out, knowing I was being completely obnoxious. "Oh. Wait," I added. I glanced over at Kathy and her grin was of the approving nature.
"I've never seen him that way," Jake laughed as we watched Taylor stalk off the court.
"Me neither and he regularly gets annoyed and pissed off while playing. He wasn't even playing, just finding a way to get a dig at you," Robbo added.
"Everybody stop," Kathy announced, skipping over. "Facebook news, there's a campus wide call out to cock block Taylor until he resolves his issues with you, these girls refuse to see him with anyone else until you guys sort your shit," Kathy laughed. "Oh my god, I love these people." Laughing, I shook my head at her.
"Facebook news?" Robbo asked.
"Who's cockblocking him?" Jake asked, with half a smile on his face already.
"Newsflash, we live in Gossip Girl," I told him and his brows dropped in confusion.
"People like Lucy and Taylor. They 'ship them and now they're organised and united," Kathy informed the boys, sounding vaguely proud.
"They 'ship' them?" Robbo asked. "ship them where?"
"Oh, my sweet, sweet weird little sweetie," Kathy sighed condescendingly, reaching over to pat his arm. "Anyway, I have a lecture. I'll send you screenshots of the polls as they progress," She told me and disappeared.
"She's weird," Robbo murmured, watching Kathy skip away, the way she'd come from.
"Try spending time with her," Jake muttered back and I laughed.
"Try living with her."
