Chapter 14.

I walked inside the hospital wishing that he wasn’t awake.

“Excuse me?” I called the receptionist as she looked up. “May I know which room is Chris Ryder in?”

“Are you family?” she asked.

I nodded. “Brother.”

“Okay.” She looked down. “Room 204.”

I took the lift and reached second floor. I seriously wished Chris wasn’t awake, I didn’t want him to know I came to see him. More importantly, I don’t want him to know that I’m paying for him because I know he wouldn’t take it. As soon as I reached his room, Mike came out.

“Hey, is he awake?” I asked him.

“No.” he shook his head and I relaxed. Mike was one of Chris’s friends. He’s with him most of the time and that is why I keep in contact with him.

“Alright. Here’s the money.” I said handing him the cash. “And if there is need for more, let me know.”

He nodded. “Chris is getting a little suspicious, you know. He keeps wondering, where the money is coming from.”

I sighed. I knew some day he was going to realize, I’ll have to do something. “Let him wonder for a while. I’ll do something about it.”

He nodded and I slapped his back. “Thanks man.”

Mike had been a great help to me always, I owe this guy.

I walked out of the hospital, took a deep breath and prepared myself to face go there.
