Keeping My Secret

Jordan POV:

I shook away the stupid feeling and jumped in the shower. I looked in the mirror, curled my hair, and applied nothing but nude lipstick. I walked in my room and selected an easy outfit, light jeans, a brown sweater, and my brown Uggs. I ran downstairs to see Cassandra fixing my favorite breakfast, a bacon omelet with a strawberry smoothie. I laughed and hugged her tightly.

"Why did you hug me?" Sandra asked.

"Because I love you!" I stated excitedly.

"Well I have to make up for leaving you here with Brian," she said.

"You're absolutely right," I said while eating my breakfast.

"Well, Phillip and I are leaving at 1 and we won't be home until 8," Sandra stated quietly.

"Aww, I have cheer anyway so I will only be home around 4. . . That means only 4 hours with him," I said sadly.

"You'll be fine. . . Trust me," She exclaimed.

I finished my breakfast, got in my car, and started my day.

I dropped my tote on the carpet, slammed down my keys on the table, and let out a huge sigh. It had been a hard practice at cheerleading today. My mind was now swamped with flips and kicks. Reaching down, I took off my shoes and set them down. I looked around, noticing the house was a little quiet.

"Sandra?" I walked towards the living room. "Sandra, Are you here?" I frowned. Probably she was with Phillip.I started toward the kitchen.

"Sandra's not here, sweetheart" A gravelly voice behind me made me jump. I spun around.

"Brian? What are you doing here?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He was wearing a black sweat pants and a green shirt that clung to him.

"Don't I live here, sweetheart?" He chuckled.

"Not to me. And don't call me sweetheart" I narrowed my eyes to slits. The one person I'd rather go to Mars than spend time with and I have to be home the same time as him. "Why is Sandra not here?"

He rolled his eyes. "I don't know, sweetheart."

Fury rolled around in my stomach, making me teeter. "Don't Call Me Sweetheart!!"

He raised his eyebrows. "Okay.....sweetheart"

I refused the urge to scream or throw something at him. I settled for a muffled shout and storming upstairs. The remnants of his chuckle followed me upstairs.

I slammed my door and flopped down on my bed. I grabbed my pillow and screamed into it. After about five minutes I heard a light knocking on my door. I stormed over to it.

"What?!" I shouted at Brian who was looking like he was containing a laugh.

He looked at me. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that"

No shit, Sherlock. I stared at him. He was apologizing? "Whatever" I muttered.

He stood there still.

"Um anything you wanted other than to apologize for being an asshole?"

"I wanted to ask you to help me locate something in the kitchen since Phillip's not here?"

I scoffed at him. He was asking me for help, like seriously? He looked kind of serious though so I just nodded and came out of the room. I was heading to the stairs when he stopped me. I looked at him.

"Wait. Do you have a pen in your room? I find it kinda stupid that I can't find absolutely any"

I looked at him. He was acting weirder than usual. Should I indulge him? Ugh whatever. I turned back and went into the room. He followed me. I searched in the drawers of my desk for a pen I knew was there. Found it. I turned around in time to hear the distinct click of a lock.
