**** The picture in the m/m has nothing to do with the chapter, but somebody said that Aug and Teyana look like a lesbian couple in that picture lol. I love Aug, but I couldn't stop laughing. ****

AMBER P.O.V. -

I told Tanya I would go, but in my heart I didn’t want to. I spent my entire weekend hoping August would call and tell me had plans for my birthday. And it didn’t have to be major plans. If all he did was cook for me and we made love, I’d be the happiest woman alive.  I just wanted to be with him. It had been far too long.

But just as my luck would have it. He never called. Never sent a text. Never attempted to even visit. I cried about this probably all day Sunday.

But by Monday morning, I was back to myself again. There had been so many times he had blown up at me, and I’d forgave him. Yet he couldn’t do the same for me? Okay August. I was just gonna do me from here on out.

I went to work and prepped for this meeting I had with Christina and Omari about the Jackson case. I was looking through my files, when August came in my office. I didn’t even look up, I just began writing.

He put a Carmel Latte’ on my desk. “I know you addicted to these things so I stopped by Dunkin on my way in.”

I didn’t even acknowledge it. I just kept writing.

“So you not gon acknowledge a nigga presence?”

“Shouldn’t you be doing your job? This trash bin under my desk is full.” I didn’t take my eyes off my paper.

He smirked. “You know what. I’mma let that shit slide. Because regardless if you still love me, I love you.”

“You love me?” I looked up at him.

“I’m not finna repeat it.” He motioned for me to move back.

I turned toward him as he got the garbage “You love me so much that you went an entire week without calling me?”

He put the garbage down.

“You told me not to call you. Make up your damn mind. Cause I’m not playing this back and forth shit.”

“Whatever August.” I turned back toward my work.

He picked up the garbage.

“Why you crying?”

I just ignored him and wiped my eyes.

“Women and y’all fucking emotions. I can’t deal with this shit. Man.”

He was about to leave.

“You are so wrong August. So wrong.” I said sniffling and wiping my eyes.

“Wrong about that?” He looked confused.

I just got some Kleenex and wiped my eyes.

“You don’t think this week was hard for me to? Going from talking to a mutha-fucka every day, to not talking to you at all? Do you know how many times I dialed your number then hung up? Wrote an entire text and erased it? Drove by your house and sat in your drive way wanting to ring your door bell? You told me to back off, I was giving you space.”

“You could’ve at least called to see if I wanted to do something for my birthday.”

“Amber I know when your birthday is. That day is more special to me than any day on this earth.”

“So special you didn’t call to make plans. Yeah. Ok.”

“That’s why I came in here but then you started flipping out on me for no fucking reason.”
