A/N

A few of you have been commenting on Emma's mate and his wife. I know it's weird, and strange, but hopefully my explanation will make sense later in the story.

I hope you're all enjoying it so far, welcome to all new fans and readers!

I woke to a cold feeling. I immediately sat up, my body shivering slightly from the cold. I tried to wrap the thin sheet around myself more, and noticed a horrible hole in the middle. 'How did I not realise that was there last night?' I thought to myself, feeling as stupid as ever.

I looked to the edge of the room where Finn was struggling with the window. 'What are you doing?' I asked him. He didn't turn to look at me to reply, and gave a final tug on the window. It came loose and slammed shut.

'Trying to close the window.' He said, while turning to face me, 'By the way, I've finished looking through those files, and...' He picked them up off of the sofa and handed them to me, with his eyebrow raised.

'You do know there's nothing in them, right?' He asked. My jaw dropped, literally. I froze. Empty. As in I may never find who took my sister empty?

Frantically, I grabbed the folders out of his hands and flicked through them. Nothing. I started to panic as I held them up to see if anything would fall out. Nothing.

I started to hyperventilate. I collapsed onto the bed. I had only organised one plan. Now we were just on the run.

'Finn.' I whispered. 'What can we do?' I closed my eyes trying to process everything. I felt the bed dip with his weight.

'I honestly don't know Emma. I won't give up, come on with me?' He asked.

I nodded, dumping the files in the small metal bin in the corner.

'Let's get breakfast.' He said holding his hand out to me, which I took.

Just as our skin touched I heard a loud noise downstairs. I could hear the woman's voice rise at intuders.

'I cannot give private information! They might sue me. And I'm almost broke as it is!' She yelled in frustration.

I heard a gentle thump downstairs and a quiet whimper.

I stared at Finn with wide eyes.

Heavy footsteps began to make their way up the stairs.

I frantically began to search for a fire escape. Any way to get out of this place, when Finn pulled my hand.

He dragged me over to the back of the room and clenched his fist. I looked at him with wide eyes as he punched the window out.

Luckily it just shattered and fell into pieces on the ground.

Finn held my wrist as we jumped from the window. I started to run, but he held me back and looked into my eyes.

'Emma, we have to split, it's safer that way. I'll meet you in that wood.' He pointed to a clump of trees in the distance.

As soon as he'd finished, I heard gunshots. I ran for me life. They fired in quick succession through the air. I didn't turn to look who was shooting, but guessing that they were hunters I couldn't take any chances.

A few hundred meters away from the motel there were a few houses that bordered the wood.

I ran full speed as the shots kept firing. I swore under my breath as one skimmed my arm. An intense pain shot quickly up my arm as I flinched in pain. I felt wet liquid trickle down my arm, but didn't look.

I reached the row of houses and turned down the dirt track that led to the wood. Seeing as the hunters would have a car I decided to go through people's gardens where they couldn't see me , or follow me, so easily.

There was a house where no one was in, there wasn't a car in the drive, and I couldn't hear anyone inside either.

I jumped over someone's pretty white Pickett fence, apologising profusely in my head at the trail of trampled grass I was leaving across their front lawn.

I ran around the back, dodging various gnomes an other garden ornaments, including a porcelain octopus... At least I picked an interesting garden.

Luckily this one had a gate that led straight to the wood. I ran over to it, and just jumped over it. It would take too long opening it and closing it again, and luckily I did hurdles at school.

The wood was a pine forest, 'great', I thought sarcastically, 'easier to get lost in'.

I ran far enough into the wood that I didn't hear the gunshots anymore and collapsed, gripping my arm and trying to apply pressure before I lost too much blood. Also lucky that I did first aid at school.

I decided to wait for Finn to find me, he'd be able to smell the blood, even in his human form.

I waited trying to numb the pain by digging my thumb nail into my palm. My dad used to say that if you caused pain in another part of the body it would distract your brain from the pain or something.

It doesn't work. I gritted my teeth, and tried to distract myself. Finn was certainly taking his time.

I heard footsteps beside me and lifted my head to see Finn running towards me. 'Emma! Those damn hunters' He growled shaking slightly with adrenaline.

I saw he was okay and relaxed a bit. He tore his shirt and wrapped the fabric around my arm. I saw him hesitate and raise his head into the air.

'We're going to have to shift Emma. I can hear them coming.' He looked back down at me with concern. I nodded and went down on all fours.

Unfortunately, unlike in the movies, the shift is incredibly painful, and takes high amounts of energy to perform. That's why werewolves eat more than humans. The shift is relatively quick the more you shift, the quicker.

Through my training I had shifted a lot, so my change was relatively quick, but still pretty painful.

I grimaced at the pain, but soon was running again. I felt my arm healing as my wolf took over. She took over my body, going faster than I did. Finn's wolf ran up beside her, but she didn't turn to acknowledge him, she kept running.

We felt it when she crossed over out of a pack border. Now we were in no man's land.

She slowed suddenly and sniffed the air. Pulling back her lips to reveal her teeth at the unfamiliar scent. 'Rogue' She snarled to me.

Uh oh. We have company.
