We had finally arrived at my old residence. I looked at it and was surprised at how well kept it was and smelt Dante’s scent lingering heavily around it meaning he had been here on several occasions. The flower bushes were sprouting beautiful flowers with heavenly scents and the old tree in the yard stood proud unchanging.
‘’ It’s a beautiful house, but I’m still pissed off at why an alpha of all people would make a young girl pay the rent for this large home. It looks more like a mansion to me than a self-sufficient home.’’ Said Evan admiring the surroundings as we went in with Dante being carried.
Dante eventually regained consciousness after heavy monitoring by me and we had all settled in with Evan deciding to cook something. Cole stood at the entrance of the room in which I had placed Dante with his arms crossed and his gaze settling on Dante after lingering on me for a short amount of time.
‘’ So this was the guy that kept you from killing yourselves all these years of torment.’’ Said Cole, his voice sounding strained and sad as I beckoned him in and he walked to my side sitting down carefully.
‘’ Yes but I have no idea what they did to him to make him look this sick and at the brink of unconsciousness but whatever they did to him must have been very brutal because it is quite hard to take down a member of the council.’’
‘’ That’s for sure.’’ Said Cole looking at me then back at Dante.
‘’ Hopefully he comes to soon as he looks very starved, dad’s cooking up his wonderful chicken soup again.’’ Said Cole licking his lips as I smiled at his ravenous appetite.
‘’ We’ll be the second people having anything decent to eat for the night as everyone else has to dwell on the bearings of nature.’’ I sighed looking back at Dante as his chest heaved up and down slowly, his breathing uneasy but existent.
‘’ That is why we are here. To bring the pack back to at least a little bit of normalcy. This treatment is disgusting and if I could I would murder the Alpha.’’ Snarled Cole bitterly as my wolf stirred in me at a threat aimed towards my mate and I quietened her down but Cole noticed immediately and hung his head sadly.
‘’ Sorry about that forgot he’s your mate. ‘’ He apologised immediately as I waved it dismissively.
‘’ He might be my mate according to the stupid bond but I will never ever acknowledge him as that. Scars run too deep in these veins and this heart.’’ I snarled bitterly as Cole nodded in understanding. He got up effortlessly and walked towards the door to exit the room and leave me with Dante once again.
‘’ Aries.’’ He called and I snapped my gaze in his direction as he smiled at me.
‘’ You’re a strong girl. We’ll bring down this Exuro bastard and hand Jeb’s ass to him served cold on a silver platter.’’ He said and I smiled giving him a thumbs off as his hovering presence left the room immediately and Dante’s hands grasped mine softly, a small action that was enough to send my heartbeat into a frenzy as I looked into his eyes silently pleading for him to wake up and he did.
Those ozone eyes I had anticipated to see so much everyday in the past now pierced into my soul as I flashed him a smile.
‘’ Aries, is that you?’’ he croaked out tiredly trying to heave himself up as he looked at his surroundings before I pushed him back down softly.
‘’ Yes it is Dante. I’m finally back. You need to stay down because your energy is low and you must conserve as much as you can muster up in the next few hours.’’ I smiled down at him and his eyes were filled with happiness as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him.
‘’ Even if I have low energy I’d put it all into embracing you anytime. I missed you so much Aries you have no idea. Things have gone from worse to worst in this bloody pack and I never thought I’d see another normal person again.’’ He said with his voice sounding relieved as I squeezed him back and sat back down next to him.
‘’ What about Monica.’’ I asked and his eyes lit up in realisation as he flashed me a worried look, which I solved immediately.
