PRIDE.....not thats it matters (KatnissXCato)

A/N                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Hey guys :) okay so this is a KatnissXCato story i decided to write this because i fell in love with some of the story's out there that are for Cato and Katniss and there aren't enough out there! one of my favorite is "i can still do this" shes an awesome writer and if you like this book then i recommend "i can still do this" because its way better then mine. anyway i hope you enjoy this <3

I lie next to Peeta, not caring of the dangers outside, he's a bit cold but I don't think much of it because my head really hurts, so I just pull the sleeping bag up higher around him and lie there listening to the deep slow thud of his heart and slowly drift off to sleep.

Half an hour earlier

I run into the cave soaked through and head bleeding like crazy, Peeta opens his eyes and says my name, 

"Katniss" Peeta says but I ignore him I string my bow and point my arrow at the front of the cave 

"Katniss" Peeta says louder "Shhh" I demand him.

I'm still pointing my arrow at the cave opening, listening for the slightest sound which is hard because it's pouring down with rain. 

Peeta struggles to stand up but somehow he does, I turn around and look at him and help him back down.

"Katniss what happened to your head" he asks with a frightened expression on his face. 

"I....i got the medicine....for your leg Peeta" I stumble, Peeta's expression changes. 

"You Did What?!!" he shouts. 

"Shhhh" I say back. 

"What?" he asks. 

"I think someone followed me" I say getting up and walking to the front of the cave.

"Katniss, come back" Peeta says trying to sit up. 

I see Peeta full onto his back and let out a groan I run over to him and open the backpack with the medicine in it. I open the lid to the medicine and dip my fingers into its cool, gooey mix and spread it on Peeta's leg he immediately gives a sign of relief.

"Okay now you" he says. 

"No, I'm okay" 

"No you're not, please" he begs

I don't argue and let him put some of the cream on my forehead, after his patched me up we lie there in silence.

"What happened" Peeta breaks the silence.

I tell him everything, Foxface's idea of camping out in the Cornucopia, Clove coming at me, us fighting, and then I told him about Thresh saving my life and taking Clove's. And then I finish by telling him about Cato screaming cloves name and begging her to stay with him and how I think Cato's not as vicious as we may have thought.

"But you said before that you thought you heard somebody following you, do you think Cato might of followed you" Peeta says with deep breaths

"Yeah, I did, but I was emotional and the rain was pouring down, I must of just heard my heart pounding and thought it was feet thumping after me" I try to explain

"Oh okay" Peeta says

"And isn't it more likely that he would go after Thresh to avenge Clove's death" I say matter of factly

He kisses me "Try and get some res-" his cut off by a noise

SNAP! I sit up and look Peeta in the eyes, then turn to look at the cave door; I slowly stand up and reach for my bow and arrows. SNAP! SNAP! I walk quickly to the cave opening with my arrow ready to shoot; I listen again, but hear nothing. I slowly step outside.
