Tavi

Every two seconds in class I kept looking at my phone hoping that Shayne wouldn’t call while I was in school.

I prayed that when I got home he would call me so that I could hear his voice.

Something in me needed to hear him tell me that he didn’t do it.

The whole time in class I couldn’t understand or remember what the teacher was talking about.

My nerves and anxiety was through the roof.

If I wasn’t pregnant I would have been popped a whole bottle of Xanex just to get myself through the day.

The bell rang and I jumped up as if I was in a rush to go somewhere.

I didn’t have work after school and I didn’t have a Doctors appointment so I planned on spending my whole day waiting for Shayne to call me.

I made it to my locker and placed all of my school belongings in it getting ready to leave.

When I closed my locker Rasia was standing there looking at me.

“Avoiding me?” She asked.

I sighed. “Avoiding everyone!”

I walked towards the exit of the school with her right on my tail.

“Tavi, please talk to me! I feel like you’re stressing and I wanna help” She begged.

“I’m fine. I just need some time alone, some space… It’s nothing personal” I told her.

“Well I have some stuff that I need to tell you” She said walking the trail to my house with me.

I looked at her. “What?”

“Chris was there that night” She sighed.

“What night?” I asked confused.

“That night that they showed you on the cameras, he was in the car” She said.

I shook my head. “Did he tell you why?”

“He told me that they were plotting on killing your dad” She started.

I looked at her like she had two heads.

Why didn’t Shayne tell me this on the phone? I thought.

“But the minute Shayne saw you he reconsidered, figuring that Micheal was your dad and that he couldn’t do it” She finished. “Shayne didn’t do this Tavi”
