This one's dedicated to one of the most amazing person I've ever known, my sissy- Segunda. I love her so much so as her works. Check it out if you have time.
“Hey girls, guess what?” I asked, beaming excitedly to my girlfriends.
They all just looked at me like in a second and just shrugged me off after, then continued chatting with one another.
Oh God, are they really my friends? They don’t even bother hearing me out! Hello! I’ve got some news for them. Aren’t they interested even just for a bit?
Nonetheless, I still continued what I was about to say, keeping my tune high and excited. Good thing my voice is being overheard through the loud music of this bar.
“Okay, as I was saying... I think he likes me too now! ” I cooed and smiled brightly at them.
This caused the two women in front of me to stop whatever they’re talking about and I just received different reactions from them. Kristine just rolled her eyes then started ignoring me again. On the other hand, Marie, being the sweetest among us leaned closer eagerly maybe wanting to hear me clearly.
“Did I hear you right?” she asked with her sweet voice and curious eyes.
I just grinned at her as I nodded my head in agreement and I took a sip of my pina colada while keeping my gaze at her startled expression.
“But... how did you say so? Did he tell you that he likes you too? “She asked again, but hearing her voice like that, I can figure out that there’s something wrong with the way she spoke. She seemed to be uncomfortable with her own question...I don’t know why, so I decided to just shrug it off.
“Well, not really. You see, he’s my best friend and I know when something’s up to him or what. He was kind of blooming lately and I noticed that he was always happy. He’s even sweeter to me now. Plus the fact that we’re always together, he always asks me to eat with him or just hangout. I just can’t explain everything but I know he did really change and I think it’s because of me. Maybe he was already starting to like me.” My heart skipped a bit with just a thought of him and I could feel swarms of butterflies in my stomach. This was just my assumption though but I hope this time, it’s real.
I always believed that love finds its way and I know that it had already with us... with my best friend, Zach.
“And I know...he’s the one.”
I’d have never been this sure in my entire life but now, I am. I’m not being mushy or whatever, I just feel so in love with the only man who seemed to care about me... the man who meant the world to me. I believe that happy-ever-after’s did exist and now I can feel this coming.
“You always say that...” Kristine said as she was trying to hold back her laughter like I just mentioned the funniest joke ever.
I playfully shot her daggers and stuck out my tongue at her like a kid.
Kristine Brown, my ever cynic best friend never believed in the magic of love, not until before. She sees love as full of shits people took for granted. I couldn’t blame her though. She almost got herself pregnant by her ex who was a stupid jerk for playing with her feelings because of hooking up with some sluts while she was left with her life being miserable and devastated. She was caught into an accident which caused losing her baby. From that day on, she swore to herself that she’ll never, with a capital N will fall for love’s stupid trick.
I just sighed inwardly, feeling sorry for my best friend. If things just didn’t go that way for her... she could have been happily in love and definitely happy with her baby.
“I just say what seemed to be real...” I retorted as I looked at her with my smug grin.
People were luckier in love.
“Yeah, it seemed to be real but you haven’t proved anything yet.” She said emphasizing the word seemed and proved, as she looked at me with her narrowing eyes pointing out her fork with a strip of beef in my way.
I was taken aback at what she had said but didn’t bother to waver any emotions as what she was expecting me to do. I just snorted at her witty remark as I tried to avoid her knowing gaze on mine.
I know she was just trying to get herself under my skin but I won’t let her get her satisfaction.
