“NIAAAAAAAALL!!!!!! Get up! It is our first day of our last year in high school! We do not want to be late!” Blaire, my best friend of 15 years, shouted while jumping up and down on my bed.
“Five more minutes, please?” I begged her but she pulled the duvets off me, I am guessing she does not want to give me five more minutes to spend with my lovely bed. She is really excited to go to school. “Fine, I am up. Who let you in here anyway?” I asked curiously.
“Your mum did.” She smiled. “I woke up extra early today so I can go here and wake you up. So get your fat ass up and get ready! I will wait for you downstairs then let us eat breakfast together.”
“Alright, I will be there in 20 minutes.” I told her and she left my room. I walked over to my closet to prepare my clothes and then I put them on my bed then I walked in to my bathroom which was connected to my room and I started taking a shower. The shower is where I spend most of my time thinking about things in life. I thought, Today is the first day of our last year in our High School journey, will things change? Will there be something new? Will I meet new friends or will I finally meet my princess, maybe? I have been waiting for my dream girl for a very long time now and to be honest, I have only been in one relationship and it was not even that serious and I do not want that to happen again.. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard knocking on my bathroom door. “Who is it?” I asked as I got out of my shower. “It’s Blaire. Are you done yet? You spend so much time in the bathroom, you’re like a girl.”
“I’m done.” I said as I walked out of my bathroom with just the towel around my waist, I saw Blaire staring at my chest and my stomach so I looked down to see if something was there but there was nothing so I smirked and said “Take a picture, it lasts longer and you might want to close your mouth, you might catch a fly.” Then she hit my arm playfully as I laughed. “Now get out of here, I have to get changed.” I pushed her out the door and closed it.
When I saw Niall walk out of his bathroom with just a towel, I couldn’t help but stare. I know, it’s kind of weird for me too. We’ve been best friends for 15 years now and I’ve seen him shirtless a thousand times but this time, it felt different. I always had feelings for Niall; I’m just not sure if those feelings are what you call love. Well first is because I’ve never been into a relationship; I don’t know how true love feels. I stood outside his door, thinking if what I felt was love but my thoughts were interrupted when the door behind me opened.
“Oh, what are you doing here? I thought you were downstairs already.” he asked.
“I-I decided to wait for you.” I stuttered
“Are you okay? You look…” He paused searching for the right word to say “..troubled?” He finished.
“Yeah, I am fine. Let’s just eat breakfast, yeah?” I asked, trying to change the subject. I know Niall, when he knows there’s something that bothers me, he won’t stop until I open it up to him but he’s my best friend so I always tell him what bothers me. But not this time, especially that he’s the reason why I’m troubled. HELL NO.
“Let’s go!!” He said excitedly as he pulled me down the stairs. “Good morning, Mum!” He said, as he kissed his Mum’s cheeks.
“Good morning, love. Breakfast is over there at the table, you can start eating. Then I can drop you off at your school if you want.” She said, smiling at us.
“Thanks for the Breakfast, Mrs. Horan and I think, we can just walk to school since it is still early. Thanks, anyway!” I said as we walked to the dining room and then we started eating our pancakes. Niall ate his pancakes in like less than a minute. Man, that boy really loves his food. Then I laughed at the thought of Niall being in a relationship with his food.
“What are you laughing at?” He asked with his eyebrows raised.
“Nothing. It’s just that you really eat fast. I’m not yet halfway done with my first pancake and you already ate your 2 pancakes. How do you do that?” I laughed again then I finished eating my pancakes.
“Actually, I don’t know how I do that too. It’s just that I love food.” He said then we both laughed. “Bye mum! We’re off to school! See you later and you don’t have to pick me up. I’ll walk home with Blaire. Bye!” he told his mom as we walked to the door. He opened the door for me and said “Ladies first.” Then I laughed as we walked down the side walk going to school.
We walked side by side going to school talking about random stuff like if we are excited for school or something, what we’ll do after high school, our past, and our plans for this school year.
